Can anyone recommend a soundcard with digital output where AC3 and DTS passthrough works?
I have tried with Turtle Beach Advantage Micro and Edirol UA-1EX, but none of them work with passthrough.

M-Audio Transit USB, it has drivers for Mac OS, don't know if it passes DTS

I tested with my USB Sonica Theater and it passes AC3 (I don't remember if I have a DTS DVD )

Although it does not have drivers (which are realy only to have Surround Settings) it can set it as Dolby Digital/AC3:

Difference with Sonica and Transit is that Sonica has Coaxial SPDIF and Transit has Optical output

Got my Transit today. Works perfect! Finally after have tried Turtle Beach Advantage Audio USB and Edirol UA-1EX, I finally can use my hackintosh as a HTPC.

Now I have another problem with the soundcard.
Passthrough in VLC works if I enable SPDIF. But I would like it to work in MPlayer ( http://www.mplayerhq.hu/ ). When I add "-afm hwac3" to the command line, all I get is choppy sound. The sound is just like the sound I get for half a second when the soundcard changes from PCM to AC3/DTS in a player where passthrough works.

Can you please try if you get any passthrough in MPlayer? If you have a xvid with ac3 sound...

i am working on passthrough ac3/dts with mplayer on mac osx intel
now i have a modified mplayer by myself accounding to VLC's source code, and have a working passthrough with s/pdif output.
but the subtitle flickering on most time when fullscreen, i did not known whether it cause by my old mplayer source code (1.0rc1) or by my code.
i will try newest svn mplayer code and try to resolve the flickering problem and release the patch later.

I already posted the patch for mplayer passthrough on mac intel, for work on power pc, another file ac_hwac3.c may also need be patched, I will post it later.
