I bought one of those cheap USB audio dogles because others here have claimed they work. I understand they don't show in system profiler, but I can't even get sound out of it.
When I plug it in, the light on the dongle comes on, but nothing else happens. I tried playing an MP3 in both itunes and quicktime. With itunes, the slider doesn't even move. With quicktime, the slider moves and playback time changes, but no sound.
Any thoughts on this? Is there something I need to install? The creative USB driver perhaps?
Running Jas 10.4.7. Any help would be appreciated.

Did you open System Preferences - Sound Pane and select it as output/input?

Hello, thanks for the response. Unfortunately, I get "no devices found" under both input and ouput even though the red light on the dongle is on.

Does your other USB devices work?

I'm not having a problem with my other USB devices (wireless mouse, mac keyboard, thumb drive, etc) and all USB ports seem to be working. Strange that this dongle isn't.
Also, the dongle works just fine under Windows. And it's the same make/model that others here claim works under MacOS X. It's bluish-green and says USB Sound on it.

Well my guess is that something is preventing of been recognized, maybe lack of Audio Kexts.

Perhaps. Do you know what the easiest way would be to fix that?
