I am new here, don't own an intel mac (Dual G4 1ghz MDD), so I'm pretty unfamiliar with the whole Mactel scene. I plan on buying two computers in the future. A Macbook pro and a windows gaming box. It would be *nice* if my gaming box could run OSX.
1) What is the biggest hurdle for running OSX (smoothly) on x86 hardware? I've heard the TPM mentioned?
2) What is the TPM and how do OSx86 installs get around it?
3) What's the deal with video cards? Is apple using generic PC GPUs now or are nVidia and ATI still manufacturing hardware specifically for OSX? If so, why?
4) What prevents me from buying an nvidio 7900GT and running OSX on it? Drivers?
5) I've heard of Macvidia. Is Macvidia trying to write drivers that will allow OSX to use other GPUs for 3D acceleration? If I can't do it now, how about in 6mos or a year?
Sorry for all the questions. It would be cool if you guys could drop some knowledge of me.
