Hi!

I've got a "new" Notebook. - Gericom G731.

Now ive got 2 questions:

1. the cpu is an 2,2 Ghz Celeron and the fan is VERY lout. so i thought about downclocking. i fount a jumper under the keyboard but i downt know how to jumer. because its a laptop i dont want to try because it maybe could become an overclock and my hardware dies.
i couldn find a list with google how to set the jumpers to clock down (about 1,5 ghz would be enough for me its just for linux and internet) can anyone help me or should i just try?

2. unter the keyboard i fount a mini-pci card or something. its the modem. my question: would it work to buy a wlan mini-pci card and displace the modem card by the wlan card??

thanks for answers and sorry for my bad english smile.gif

Wlan: yes, it can work. Except some BIOS check the card and if it isn't the one it expects, then it won't allow it to work. Don't know if your BIOS does that or not.

Investigate wlan cards Dell 1390 and Dell 1450.

update: jumper settings: tried some setting all off: no differens - all off exept jumper 1: no difference (still 2,2 ghz) all jumper on: laptop doesnt boot. after setting back to factory defaults it boots again, but it says low bios battery and bios is loading defaults. after reboot everything normal again.

@Rammjet: thanks for the answer. i dont know if the bios will acceppt them. ill get more infos from the system when my win installation is complete.
the wlan card dont need to be compatible to osx86 cause of the missing sis 900 lan driver and sis 7012 sound driver and sis 650 graphic driver. its useless with osx, but i could install and run it. keyboard, usb and trackpat working also ide and dvd/cdrw is working smile.gif
