Hi there,

As far as I understand, the Core Duo laptops out there only work fine with one core enabled. Could someone explain why this is so, and if thre is any chance the new 10.4.8 kernels will this issue at some point?

I was just about to buy a Dell E1505 with a Core 2 Duo T5500 which seemed really compatible (GMA, Dell wireless, I got a USB sound card) but I was dismayed to read about all the problems people round here had.

Anyone has a good explanation and can offer some hope?

Thanks!!!

I bet it has something to do with speedstep on laptops. If you disable speedstep in the BIOS I'm curious if it stutters still

Nothing helps, its because of kernel and Merom

guiyoforward, I wouldn't hesitate to get the 1505. I am more then happy with my 1405 2centsfinal.gif

maybe this is overheat problem.
there was a lot of discussion before.
my D805 with TT Big typhoon working great with both cores.
with stock cooler both cores was unusable.

that was right for old kernel
with new 8.8.1 kernel everything must be ok, on laptops too.
maybe i'm wrong...
