Guys!

I`ve tried this dump: alc888_ich7_codecdump.txt
I`ve got ALC888 and ICH7. My configuration is in my signature.
The output works fine, but no input and I really need it.
Can somebody give me a nice dump or help me make output?

Thanks,
Chris

It is being done as we speak. There will be news on the next few weeks. meanwhile, Taruga is gathering a database on: http://wiki.taruga.net/

First of all, check http://wiki.taruga.net/next, explain exactly what are you doing, and are you getting your own codec dump from your system? Or just using the one made by others? If so, check, on this forum how to make one from your system

Hi guys,

I tried 22/12/2007 AD1986 0x11d41986 for testing and it works 80% for me.

Before this, I had only sound thru my internal speakers. After installing this, I have got options to send sound to either internal speakers or headphone (my loudspeakers, great for music maniac). However, I notice 2 problems:

1. No microphone in, though there're echoes from microphones (internal and external line-in)
2. Main volume bar (near system clock) is disabled (but it is adjustable in all multimedia programs)

Patcher 1.20 doesn't work with my code dump, and Patch 2.0 has still been delayed. Anyone can help to fix to enable microphone-in work?

Note Added: My laptop is Asus V1JP and its sound hardware is AD1986A 0x11d41986. (Taruga says: Laptop W3 -- AD1986a 0x11d41986 -- Nothing works???)

Here is my codec:

Hi jjduro,

Thanks for the reply, I used my own codec dump from Ubuntu...

That's great news, re: "It is being done as we speak."

I will check the web address above, Thanks again...

It's the users of Taruga Wiki that update the working and not working sound devices table. Go there and insert you Asus V1JP it will help Taruga to keep track of the several codecs and sound issues.

Still having big problems here:

Asus F9S
00:1b.0 Audio device [0403]: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller [8086:284b] (rev 03)
Realtek ALC660-VD

No sound at all, Azalia doesn't work too.
Taruga patcher 1.17 seems able to patch HDA kext using codec dump from Ubuntu (in Ubuntu audio works but need some change in drivers). but still have no sound.

Looking into system.log I can see this error line at every boot:

kernel[0]: AppleHDAController::start ERROR no layout-id found.

I hope this could help...

Thanks !

Max

I hope Taruga is going to make the Analog Devices AD1988B chip of the Asus P5K-E work!!!

Hi mates I'm reallt new here and a newbie in osx.
I don't think I'm the first one to have problems with ACL 880.It seems like i found out a trick or maybe it was the procedure to follow, i dont know i'm not skilled at all in osx, let me explain myself:

There are different solutions available throught the forums (the appleHDA patcher with your linux txt dump)the 880 and others drivers called betaforsome 861-881 ect).I tried several times and i did not get any success. So i decided to do my own dump with using xubuntu.

launch your xubuntu/ubuntu live cd and then :
browse to home/proc/asound/card0 right click and open terminal with left click and type : sudo thunar (nautilus is for ubuntu) to open your file browser in root mode then copy the file which is named codec to somewhere you can get it later.

under osx:
use your file with a drag and drop to applehdapatcher then as said replace your applehda in your kext folder, then reboot.

sound wont work now so lauch appleacl882 applehda v0,4b.mpkg (a sound fix if i'm right) let it install files automatically and then finally lauch beta4some861-880 installer reboot and you should have sound.

I dont know if my method is good as it might sound strange and may be not correct but it did work for me.If you have bad results dont blame me.
I really hope it will help out some people

PS: my kernel is the speedstep one under leopard 9,5,2 even if I have an intel SSE3
magic0200
I hope that people read this and could help me out (as I have Taruga looking at this problem as well).

PROBLEM: I have worked with HDA Patcher however I am getting a generic codec error due to the fact that my Chipset under Linux (unbutu 7.10 live) finds two codecs and not one (codec#1 codec#2). It classifies my card as two devices that are found as:

HDA INTEL (ALSA MIXER) = Dump1
GENERIC 111D ID 76B0 (OSS MIXER) = Dump2

Talking to members in #osx86 one felt that my chipset might be running through northbridge and using a dummy patch to cross. I have attached the dumps below and would love any help on this.

AppleHDA Project has moved to http://wiki.taruga.net
Feel free to join, participate, post sound issues, etc ... only this way I can do my best to help

ps. Reason for moving... I needed better organization and control.

Where do I find the AppleHDA 1.2, theire website is down and i need it
SirOcelot
Yeah I agree with the above poster. Taruga, you suggest we goto this "wiki" and all I get is a cPanel page. Please fix it, as my wife is pissed cause she doesn't have sound on her laptop due to my...meddling with her laptop and putting OSX86 on it smile.gif

Still output does not work! It is working in speakers only.
I used USB adapter from plantronis but sound quality sucks. HD Codec works much better.

Thanks....hopefully someone see's this on page 195 tongue.gif

BTW BIG thank you to taruga!

I noticed my headphone jack is not working. Yet my internal speakers are working fine.

I plug in my headphones into the jack and the audio from my internal speaker shuts off, yet no audio comes out of the headphones. I see under System Preferences -> Sound, the output changes automatically from "Internal Speakers" to "Headphones" as soon as I plug it in.

I believe I am using the audio drivers straight from the Kalyway 10.5.2 install which ran OOB. I have a Sigmatel 9200 on a Dell Latitude d420 laptop (specs and what I did to install in my sig below). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

djstriker91
link01, what exactly all did you use to get your 9200 working, internal speakers only?

Truthfully, nothing really. It worked OOB with the Kalyway 10.5.2 install. The only thing I selected in the "Customize" under "Audio" was sigmatel_9200_inspiron_9400. Right after that reboot, I had audio coming out of my internal speakers. I don't know what kext that maps to.
Since then, I updated my box to a 10.5.5, but I kept the previous audio settings. (if you look at my signature, I have a link that details what exactly I did.)

EDIT: I got the headphone jack and internal speakers to work. I found this post: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?s=&...st&p=798502
It works like a charm.

Thanks for this man. I never needed the hda patcher with my old mobo (dell intel board) but this new one has alc888 sound so off I go to try and get it to work.

Look at the very first post in this topic. At the bottom of it you'll see "How to use AppleHDA Patcher:"
The second link under that goes to a site that has txt's for a bunch of audio devices. ALC880 is there (your job to find which one of the multiple versions work with your hardware).

Got it! rolleyes.gif

So i downloaded and dropped the alc880.txt on AppleHDAPatcher1.20.app, it patched, I rebooted, but no sound detected.

Don't i need a kext to patch?

I could very well be wrong, but I assumed the patcher does everything automatically. It worked for me just doing that. Maybe someone could verify or disprove my statement.

You can also try one of the other .txt's. I saw many versions of alc880.
ckybam69
use the dumps from the psykopat website or you can make your own dump using a linux live cd and googling the terminal command for a audio codec dump...this is most likely to work. then you just drag the dump.txt file into the HDApatcher turtle icon and wham bam thank you maim you should have working audio. but if your on 10.5.5 its less likely to work since tauraga has been out of the scene for a while for health reasons.

@link: the patcher is patching a kext you already have loaded into working condition (appleHDA.kext) you could get some1 elses working kext if they have the same dev ids and such ad use that with kext helper but the patcher is easier.

COME BACK TO US TAURUGA WE NEED AND MISS YOU!! HOPE ALL IS WELL!!!

AppleHDA Patcher - 2006/2007 by Taruga v1.20

*Detected unsupported Codec

Here's what I did:
I have a Gigabyte GA P35 DS3L mobo, which as i've read in these forums has an ACL888 Realtek Soundcard. So i went to http://psykopat.free.fr/apple/AppleHDA/realtek/alc888.txt and copied the text file from there. With the AppleHDA patcher unopened, i dragged the relevant text from the webpage, onto the icon of the AppleHDA Patcher, which opened, asking for my password. I supplied my password, and the text above came out.

Any idea how to get the sound working on my system please? and could anyone tell me why the codec isn't working? it says alc888.txt, so i assume that's the correct text i'm supposed to be using. btw, i also tried using different versions of the alc888, all of those available on psykopat's site. the B,D,C,A,1,2 etc. flavors, but none of them worked!

help would be greatly appreciated.

I new in OsX and I have some problems with my sound card, so I will really appreciate some help. I installed ideneb v1.3 (Leopard 10.5.5) and I really try so hard to configure my sound card (mainboard Intel D946GZIs, audio chipset stac9227). I tried with many appleHDA.kext, and with the linux dump using Tarugas patcher 1.15, 1.16, 1.17, 1.18, 1.19 and 1.20 but no one works.

I will really appreciate some help or some comments who guide me.

Yea, I got the Sigmatel STAC9200 on my inspiron 9400 and no go either. I am using the ideneb 1.3 install like you as well. I tried using the dumps that taruga gathered (psykopat.free.fr site) and i keep getting the "unsupported codec" error on both 1.16 and 1.2 of the Patcher. I do however have the appearance of sound, just no actual sound comes out.

Hello,

too bad for me the source aren't open. it was just for testing purposes.no matter i'll find other way

thanks a lot

yup.. you are doing it wrong.
download the txt file for your codec and drag and drop it onto the unnopend patcher, don't select the text and drag.type your password and cross your fingers.

Thanks for this man. I never needed the hda patcher with my old mobo (dell intel board) but this new one has alc888 sound so off I go to try and get it to work.

Hi All,

Thanks for everyone's hard work to get osX86 and sound in particular along as far as it is!

I'm running iDeneb Leopard 10.5.5 (Sigmatel 9200 audio patch) on a Dell Latitude D820 laptop. The soundcard is a Sigmatel 9200.

Codec: SigmaTel STAC9200
Vendor Id: 0x83847690
Subsystem Id: 0x102801cd
Revision Id: 0x102201

Out of the box I got working sound, but no working microphone though the external showed up. Dell Laptop Post Installer v1.3 > Sigmatel 9200 installs a driver that does Internal Speakers, Digital Out, and External Microphone.

I've been trying to patch the original AppleHDA.kext with AppleHDAPatcher v1.20 and the codec I ripped using a Ubuntu 7.10 desktop boot CD. Booting a patched original always yields no output or input devices. Could using a newer version of Ubuntu provide a better codec rip?

Has anyone else with this card gotten their internal mic to show up? I'm most interested in the ability to use a microphone, preferably internal.

Checked out http://osxupdate.blogspot.com/, thanks for the info there.

Codec is attached.

Thanks and good luck!
