Ok. I respect the work that Taruga has been doing for a year, but the files in the first post are/were helping many people (including myself), so he can make an statement that he cannot longer support the development but leave the file for other to use it. I did a search in google for alternate sources of this patcher return empty, all links point to this forum.

I have now a P5LD2-SE mobo, and want to try the v. 1.13 that the version that works with AD1986A codec, but now is almost impossible to do this.....IF somebody has this file, Please PM with it....Thanks.

PS. Targua - Thanks for all your hard work! It's thanks to you i've had onboard sound working on my laptop!

The Leo patcher has the newer AppleHDA.kext inside AppleHDA patcher but I think it needs a differnet patch than previous ones.

If someone has the v. 1.13, please PM or post it....TIA.

I just can't get my soundcard working (Leo 10.5.1, Realtek ALC880)

With AppleAzaliaAudio.kext i just get Headphones out working, no Input and no Laptop SPeakers.

Ive tried the AppleHDAPatcher for Leo with a codec dump from knoppix and ubuntu, doesnt work, AppleHDA just won't load.

I also tried the beta4some860_880models package, and with this package AppleHDA loads and i get 2 ouptus and 2 inputs in the system preferences. But i have no Sound output, just a short "plopp" coming out of Headphones when starting a song....

somebody suffering the same problem?

anybody can help??

Great work! I am not sure if anyone is still working on this, but just in case here is the codec from a SigmaTel in an Inspiron 1720. AppleHDA does not work for me....yet. Hopefully Taruga can make it happen.

Does anybody still have the beta4some861_880models.zip, and can post it please?

I am trying to get my Leo to see my ALC880 but no luck - I've tried the Skippy driver and tried the Taruga patch that was apparently taken down, but neither worked, and I've seen references to this beta driver but can't find it anywhere! THANKS in advance!

Dose any body has a solution to get the sound in headphone or input ?

any help will be highly appreciated !

I have it, but I'll be out of town untill tomorrow. I'll post it when I return.

2 b honest, I don't think that Taruga is pissed at us, rather that he has s.th. bigger "in the pipe": he never complained about all the attention, he never accepted money offers because "he was doing all this 4 fun"; he never closed accepting PMs. If he had really been annoyed he would have simply closed his PM box. I think he took off the files because for too many people the patchers simply did not work, or did not work correctly. So let's wait & see if Taruga comes up with s.th. much better (more compatible) .. rolleyes.gif

.. stay tuned & don't touch that dial ..
magare
Apparently (and unfortunatelly) he is the only person doing some real work in this area, hence the only hope for us....and now - disappeared. Damn!

v1.16 working on my Dell D820 with sigmatel 9200 codec. Leopard 10.5.1.

only thing not working for me is proper mute. the sound still comes out of the speakers when on mute and with headphones plugged in!
Objection
Tried 1.17. It made a whole bunch of stuff come up in my System Preferences under sound, but despite having two choices for mic neither worked with my mic.

I'm gunna try 1.16 and report back.

Issues identical in 1.17 and 1.16. Oh well, thanks for the work smile.gif

@jjduro and others

at first I need to mention : I have a ALC861 and I don't have the Subsystem 0x10430000 BUT I have the "twisted" codec that is known to not work with AppleHDA from Taruga (variants with Pin Complex at 0x0c).

So I had'nt had a chance to get the sound card working with neither AppleAzalia nor AppleHDA since now.
But I just tried the Tarugas Alpha ALC861 driver and wanted to inform you that I got it running (sound with speackers and headset) I havent done any further testing since I was simply strucked.

I don't know if this works for anybody else and I can't give any help or support since I'm really new to this. But maybe Taruga walks by and notice this ...

What I did was the following :
<Edit> Step 1 was not necessary </Edit>
1.) I used the driver plain at it was uploaded. After it did not work I looked at the Codec dump I got in Linux nad changed the "Audio Output" the headset is connected to in the AppleHDA.kext/contents/Info.plist. I noticed that in my Linux dump the Audio Mixer (that the headset is connected to) is bound to the addresses 0x03, 0x04, 0x06, and 0x15. The 0x06 finally made it work for me. I just changed the ID=5 in the original driver to 6.

2.) AND I had to change the output in the system prefrences to "Line Out" .. Headset and the others didn't work.

So .. in the end I don't know yet if option 1, option 2 or the combination made it happen but Itunes plays fine for me. I have little time at the moment but I will try later.

For know .. eventually jjduro or anybody else might test this.

Remember .. I'm not here very often. Maybe I wont answer very fast or maybe i won't never ever ;-) .. don't get me wrong for this ;-)

Btw: Best regards to Taruga .. have a fine time an get yourself a drink or two !

Edit:
I just tested : the first change I made seems to have nothing to do with it. Changed back to original entry and still have sound on Line Out.

What about an ALC662 Realtek?
jjduro
I'm happy it worked with you.
Taruga never posted this alfa driver, so, you are the first to have an ALC861, with screwy subsystem, working.

Please, if you do get more good news and breakthroughs tell us about them biggrin.gif

@ yang08: what version OS/kernel are you using?

for my Sigmatel 9200 I got it to work thanks to taruga's patcher 1.15 AND changing the kernel to MacNubs kernel via:

- Install new kernel following this: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=48961
Download http://www.esnips.com/_t_/mach_kernel and unpack it to your desktop (only MACH_KERNEL not other files!)
sudo mv /mach_kernel /mach_kernel.back
sudo cp -R ~/Desktop/mach_kernel /
sudo chown root:wheel /mach_kernel*
sudo chmod 644 /mach_kernel*

targa's patchers generally work VERY well, what some people forget is:
especially for Laptops, the layouts are crazy variations of any manufacturer's whim... and then it really has an effect which kernel you are using: the early Semthex kernels did cause problems with the patcher.

hope that helps,
ninetto

Asus F3Jc (almost) solution (and solution for almost all ALC861 codecs)

Taruga developed this Alfa driver for the Alc861 with Subsystem_Id_0x10430000, installed mainly on Asus F3JC. The problem is that the Bios Post sound device, on Asus F3JC, is somehow connected to the system's sound codec.
This driver should make the sound work fine, because the sound devices, even mic, and digital output, are shown on System Preferences - it also works on Leopard. But the main sound control is still grayed out and, hence, no sound is coming out of the speakers or jacks.

I tried to disable and enable the sound on the Bios preferences with no pratical results. Taruga tried the same and he figured out the that there was some strange relation between both. So, Taruga's driver is ready to work, probably on other laptops, but not on Asus F3JC.

Noting about an ALC662 Realtek?

Hi, This soundpatching is a little bit confusing ^^
I have an Asus P5W DH Deluxe with a Realtek ALC882(M).
I´ve downloaded a text file from a link, which was postet a few posts above, but now I haven´t really a clue what to do with it. My Leopard (10.5.0) has stereo output, but lacks 5.1 (not really necessary) and microphone input (<-- necessary for skype).

Does someone have a link to a post which explains what I have to do or the time to explain it? Would be very nice

ok, now you got the file it's rather easy

get the patcher, appleHDAPatcher17, a few pages back in this same post
get the 882.txt file (probably that's the one you already have)

then erase (keep backup) the AppleAzalia, ALCInject and AppleHDA (maybe you don't have the second if you haven't done that b4)

done that, you just have to drag and drop the 882.txt onto the patcher

look closely to the window that opens, it will tell you what the script has actually detected

delete temporal caches and reboot (simply reboot with -f option)

as simple as that, and it works!

I know I wrote it quite summarised, but I suppose that, being Leopard, you have a fair share of experience. If you have any question on any of the steps, just ask me back

happy patching!!!

Hi, thanks for the answer

I now have the patcher, but I did not find the files you said I have to delete & backup.
I thought they should be in /System/Library but I didnt found them. The search function doesnt find system files, am i right?

Is it ok if I simply move these files in my profile directory or do they need to be moved to another partition?

and, at last, does the reboot with -f automatically delete temporary files?
[edit] I found an AppleHDA.kext and an AppleAzaliaAudio.kext, are these the files I should be looking for?

You'll find the kexts in /System/Library/Extensions

Open a terminal in the Applications/Utilities folder

cd /System/Library/Extensions

And there you'll see the files you found. For backup purposes I suggest you use a simple

sudo mv AppleHDA.kext AppleHDA.kext.bak
sudo mv AppleAzaliaAudio.kext AppleAzaliaAudio.kext.bak
(you'll be prompted for your password)

then use the patcher and yes, the -f will rebuild the kext caches at reboot

the last step is just to report back your success wink.gif
Pharao2k
Should there be an information dialog or other response after I drag the file into the patcher? The textbox in it states that I shall move a file on an icon (by the way, which icon, the icon in the dock or the application icon in finder?) and seems like to do nothing if I do so
jl7854
First close the patcher. I moved the patcher application to the Desktop then dropped the codec text file on that.
Pharao2k
Yeah that fixed it, thx
Well, really last question (I hope ^^), whats the command for rebooting? Don´t want to try it and type in something wrong biggrin.gif
And do I need to repair permissions?
DukeRaoul
reportings of success here - ALC882 sound on P5LD2-VM working fully thru System Preferences
after using Taruga patcher 1.16 with 882.txt from the link on post/reply #2730

I could not find anywhere on this thread to download the patcher... but somebody had mentioned the filename:
AppleHDAPatcher_v1.16.zip
so I googled around for that and found a mexican website to download it from
*EDIT* it is on here, (duh)
http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...st&id=17887

I drug the 882.txt onto the Taruga patcher icon frog on the desktop. It did the rest.
(it put AppleHDA.kext and ALCinject.kext into Extensions ƒ and cleaned up afterwards)

Haven't checked the mic or line-in functionality with an actual microphone, but they appear to work in System Prefs.
This all works in 10.4.11 w/koolkal 10.4.10 kernel.

thanks to the authors

"sudo reboot" will reboot the machine

when you see darwin bootloader, the first message after the bios, press F8

then add -f

done wink.gif

you almost made it

ah ok I misunderstood ^^
I thought the -f option should be an argument of reboot wink.gif
Well, the Driver seems like to work BUT I have no functonal microphone...
System Preferences > Audio shows me 2 input devices
Internal Microphone (built-in)
and
Line In (Audio line-in port)
But neither of them seems like to get the signal of my microphone. I tried all of them with every input device. Any idea what I am doing wrong?
