No working solution yet -- I have the same setup as you and have been lurking for months

Thanks. Crappy part is, now I have no sound at all. I shut down the laptop and I heard my messenger log out during the process, then when I turned it back on when I got to class I had no sound devices listed. Whenvever I bump the volume wheel on the front a the on-screen volume thing pops up, but it has a "no" symbol on it. I still have sound in Vista though.

So, no solution of Soundmax 1988b to open all function?

I'm the guy that produced the original Codec Dump for the Sigmatel 9227. I had sound working in 10.5 after running the Patcher version 1.16, but it didn't let me use the microphone. I used the 1.17 patcher last night and now I have no sound at all. Hmmmm......Kinda odd. I will update if I figure anything out.

My sound on ASUS P5B motherboard is AD1988 (see image)

I installed OSX86 Leopard by ToH RC2. The problem is sound onboard not working.

and I installed AppleHDA Patcher 1.17 with AD1988B.txt

after reboot system, It still no sound

Need help

Thank

Okay. I checked out the HDA Patcher 1.17 using the codec dump found on the codec dump website (which is my original one) and I get no sound at all. I actually had to delete everything and restore the original AppleHDA.kext from the Leopard install disc and then use the HDA Patcher 1.16 to get my sound back but without microphone use. So my specific codec dump doesn't seem to work as of yet with the new patcher. Although, you can get sound with no microphone using the 1.16 patcher. Hope this helps, everyone! And Taruga.

I have been struggling for a while to get sound working on my Asus F3 series notebook. It worked perfect in Tiger, but in Leopard I got it working but after a reboot it stopped again... Reinstalling the kext would not help, but reinstalling Leo and applying the kext from tiger or Tarugas HD Audio patcher (1.16) would give me sound, but only once... Next reboot it would be gone.

I have discovered that there are cache-files stored in /System/Library/Cache and /System/Library/Extensions/Cache that in some way caches kernel extensions and for the 10.4.9 extension for audio this spells trouble :-) If I remove the files in this directory (boot with -s and remove them) and reboot I will get sound again....

My extremely quick and dirty fix to this is to simply replace the two directories with symbolic links to /tmp that are cleaned empty on every reboot, and now I got sound working.... I don't know if this causes something else to break yet, but I though I would share this info and see if anybody else gets it working... (If it breaks your system you have tried this on your own risk...)

To create the links do the following (from a Terminal prompt):

cd /System/Library
sudo -s
(give password)
rm -rf Cache
ln -s /tmp Cache
cd Extensions
rm -rf Cache
ln -s /tmp Cache
echo
@NemesisSheep

9227 seems to be working with other boards (965XX) but not with 946. The subsystem id is different.

any comments about alc262 testing???

any test work??

thanks!

I, too, also tried HDA Patcher 1.17, and it left the sound card unheard. No input or output at all. I'll probably have to try 1.16 again to get output back.

Taruga is not in our pay roll and he is not our slave... And he's not God... He's just Saint Taruga. smile.gif

Even so...

ALC861 is a real pain in the arse. How can it work with some subsystems and not with 0x10430000?????????? It is not fair! (Yes I'm crying and sobbing) blink.gif

I love my Asus F3Jc.. but I hate the way it makes me feel without sound :'(

For everyone with DG965XX board and STAC9227 codec.
There is my Info.plist which gives me working microphone on this board. No input level control though, but you can manually increase Boost value in plist.
This is for FRONT mic. If you want to have working port on back - play with numbers yourself smile.gif
Virgo
OMG!
My FRONT mic WORK!
I love you, antst! smile.gif
THANK YOU!

1.16 and 1.17 do not work on my Sigmatel 9872 AKD on Leo.

Edit: both say spdif in/out not detected.

Attached is my linux dump.

What would I use for ALC268, or is that not supported yet?

alc262test3.zip works perfectly with my Fujitsu T4220 (in both 10.4.10 and 10.5) after changing the second microphone input to the digital microphone node. Thanks Taruga!

Anyone get ALC662 to work, I trying to use the AppleHDA Guide to get it working but don't really understand how is the linux codec dump to map the pathmap, does anyone have any document to show how to map them? if you look at the code below, how to difference which node map to which? Please advice.

Thanks...

What works? As far as i know, there's no way to put Taruga's Patcher to good use with an Abit IP35 Pro (ALC888 + ICH9R).
The only solution, so far, should be using an edited AppleAzaliaAudio kext which, at least, permits stereo output (but no input).
If you managed to make multichannel output (or at least Mic In) working with Taruga's Patcher on an Abit IP35 Pro, please state which dump (codec txt file) you used.
Thanks in advance

1.17 does not work on Leopard. 1.16 does. Weird. Running original kernel with EFI bootloader.

I've just tried 1.17 on Leopard with a P5K-E AD1988B and it still doesn't work. Although, unlike 1.16, it says that it is patching it and everything seems to be ok. but, no sound.

where has Taruga gone?!!

InorganicMatter - how did you get the EFI loader to work? Every time I try it, it says it's 'marking a word' or something and then when I boot leopard, nothing changes. do you need to have fixed the UUID 35 prob for it to work? Feel free to PM me so this thread doesn't stray off topic.

Hey,

I hope it is okay to post this here, I've ran out of ideas and need some help from some pros. I had my conextant hd audio working in my toshiba satellite p105-26064 laptop great. Headphone out and speakers worked great, no problem. I was not worried about my line in so that was not a problem for me. I upgraded my BIOS to fix a few bugs and then I noticed my USB did not work correct, so I downgraded back to where I was. Now my audio does not work. And honestly, I cannot remember if my audio worked when my BIOS was the newer version or not because I was so worried about getting my USB to work. Whenever I install the Azalia Audio driver it shows up fine just like it used to, but I do not get any sound. It is the strangest thing, it's like it recognizes that it is there but my hardware is not getting initialized. Any help you could offer would be great!

Thanks,

Geiman

I'm having trouble getting sound to work on my P35-DS3L. I'm pretty sure its ICH9 and ALC888. Has anyone gotten this to work with Leopard?

I saw where people were adding ICH9 numbers to info.plists like the following, should I have to do something similar?
QUOTE
Add 0x293e8086 DevID to:
ALCInject.kext/Contents/Info.plist
AppleHDA.kext/Contents/Plugins/AppleHDAController.kext/Contents/Info.plist

Thanks
