@ discin420style and anyone still having problems getting any output from the
Sigmatel 9200 / stac9200:
Try the attached dump with your Taruga patcher of choice. I'm still having problems muting and getting the speakers to shut off when headphones are plugged in, but that's another project altogether.
Keep your eyes peeled at this thread:
http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=15474...for all the latest updates on mute & speaker/headphone switching functionality. Hope this helps.

BOL_fan,
You Rock! After weeks of no sound on my Dell D420 I finally have it. Out of curiosity how did you know that dump would work? I couldn't tell you how many different dumps I tried. And why wouldn't the one that was originally from my machine work? Anyway, thanks again.
Peace,

Thanks discin420style! Glad it worked for more people than just me.
I really had no idea it would work - after not getting any results with my own linux dump, I combed this site for any other people with the 9200. I found a few in the thread about Dell laptops (linked in my previous post) and one of them just worked. I have no idea why, but I guess I'll take what I can get.

The next step is headphone switching and mute functionality, but there are some great members in the Dell thread that are hard at work on that.

Hey I have the same sound on a laptop I've got Leopard running on. I've managed to use the patch to get digital working but not line out, and line out is the one I need. I don't really care for microphone as long as I can get basic line out working without having to keep the laptop plugged into my amplifier.Any ideas? Would the patch be different for a laptop version of the chipset rather than a desktop?I've just had a though... would I perhaps have more luck with my own Linux code dump? That way if any of the things are off in the prepared one (if it's from a desktop and not a 2 channel with SPDIF laptop) then it will change them to work? Hmm I have a friend with a Ubuntu disc...

Okay well I need some help here please... (Btw I'm using Leopard, not Tiger)
Using my own Linux dump file and the HDA patch, I can only get digital out working, Line out appears but will not output any sound. I can't change the speakers to more than stereo, and volume controls do not work.
I'm using the AD1986A chip from Intel, nothing I seem to do can get it working.
When using AzaliaAudio and AC97 I can see the device there, but no digital output can be seen and there is no sound coming out of the line out again, nor from the laptop's internal speakers.
Any help would be appreciated, I need this to run as my other laptop flat out refuses to install or boot from Leopard because of something incompatible with the chipset.
Thanks!

If you need more info let me know and I'll try to dig it up. I'm a complete novice at this so please be patient.
Thanks in advance for any help.
UPDATE!: For any other noobs out there that dual-boot, make sure you don't try to run any of these apps from an ntfs drive. I was downloading everything in XP and then rebooting into OSx and running it from my XP drive. Maybe I should have known better but I tried copying everything over on a whim and voila, I now have sound.
Many thanks to Taruga and all the others that make running OSX on an intel platform possible!

First of all, thanks guys for the guide and work.
The patch 1.16 worked great for Tiger.
However, in Leopard, after patching it, I got no shutdown.
When I choose shut down, the computer actually goes to sleep.
The good thing is restart still works.

Apply to Upchuck 10.4.9 1.3 dvd:
If you have the sigmatel audio card on your Intel Bad Ax2 motherboard and it says that the version is a sigmatel9247D you may have found your were frustrated with installing the kext as there doesn't seem to be a kext for this version. If you tried the sigmatel9274D with no luck don't worry, the trick only involves a changing of two numbers. Here is what to do:
Download this file, provided by the above posters:
http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...ost&id=8191Save the file to the desktop. When you save make sure it is in PLAIN Text. As others have noted rich text will not work with AppleHDAPatcher 1.16.
Download AppleHDAPatcher 1.16 and leave it on your desktop.
Open up the Sigmatel9274D file and change the first line to read: Codec: SigmaTel STAC9247D note all I did was change the place of the 7 and 4 to read 9247D instead of 9274D.
Save as plain text format and change the name accordingly, ie. swap the 74 to a 47 in the file name.
Next drag the txt document you just created right on top of the frog icon, if you hover over the icon long enough you will see that it will accept it. Try several times to get it directly ontop of the frog icon. Type in your password when prompted. The patcher program you downloaded does everything else. It will state that it found the out but not the in. Also, it will begin verifying the kext so the kernel will scroll as permissions are accessed and the new code is applied to the rest of the kernel. This patcher is one of the easiest patcher apps I have seen. When prompted, shut down. I like the machine to be completely off then start machine.
Things to remember. Check sound by playing a song in itunes or a dvd. Also, in About this Mac, and under more info, the audio will state that there is no device. If you have sound then the patcher did its job. Remember, you just fooled OSX by cross applying a codec from Linux so OSX's hardware profiler won't recognize the audio card, but the kernel will recognize the device and use it accordingly. I hope this helps.

I am trying to get this Audio Driver to work.
I am running ALC 882 on a Asus S96J Laptop.
So far I have gotten the Targua ALCInject.kext, AppleHDA.kext and HDAController.kext loaded
I have run the Taruga HDAPatcher with the Audio Codec#0 dump i got from live cd ubuntu linux so my AppleHDA.kext should be edited correctly, right?
I have not made any changes to the ALCInject.kext
What do I have to edit and where in the ALCinject.kext Info.plist to get the ALCInject to work with my edited AppleHDA.kext
Can someone look over the files i uploaded and look for my mistake(s)?
AppleHDA was only edited with The HDAPatcher and my original Codec dump.
ALCinject.kext has not been edited at all yet, because i dont know what to do with it.

Still Headphones only

I think it needs a special "bypass" with software to get sound on the speakers from what I read on some ALSA forums.
