I tried using the guide and hexediting AppleHDA, but I had no success. I also can't see to find any information about my particular vendor/subsystem id. The vendor id doesn't seem to match any sigmatel 9227 documents I've seen.

ALC268 working unexpectedly...

EDIT: ok it was using azalia, not HDAudio. perfect speakers output, perfect volume control. No luck on ALcInject and HDA

Anything about AD 1981HD?... unsure.gif

Try my guide here> http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...c=64754&hl=

Full input & output has been achieved on some systems running Intel ICH7 on ADI codec.

If you are under Intel chipset, in the AppleAC97AudioIntelICH.kext you need to place two copies of the vendor ID and device ID both under say the ICH7 and Nvidia AC97 sections ie. 0x27d88086 under the IOPCIMatch sections. Read my post for more info.

Any word on the ALC862?

ALC882 work with patch in my signature but only out... input still needed

I've been searching the forums for an hour and can't seem to find a fix for my conexant hd audio. My HP dv6000 laptops internal speakers work, but that's it. I really need my headphones.

Another hopeful user groveling for AD1988B support. Existing h/w support with audio out meets most needs, but mic input would be nice for my gaming endeavors. One less reason for me to boot into XP and one more reason to reformat that drive to JHFS+. smile.gif

Im getting an odd bug

In skype when i have a text chat it cuts my sound
reselecting the sound device via skypes prefs recognises it again

everything else seems to work fine including video and audio chat

Thank's Middleman, I have tried your guide, but for me don't work in or out audio. I have tried also the Conexant_HD_Audio.pkg.zip but nothing.
My card is AD1981HD and my laptop is HP Compaq nx9420, there is a button with a little led for 'no sound' always on!

Robin,

I found that my guide works on most AC97 setups - I got 6 channel sound, mic & line-in on one machine! If you are using a Soundmax HD chip (which in your case, you are) you then have to use Taruga's AppleHDA method. Its actually quite easy - I solved another machine with a Realtek ALC883 using Taruga's method.

And if you want to know what the binary code for your codec id is for AppleHDA, use the Apple Calculator set to Programming mode. If you use the HEX calc and type in 0x11D41981, and press the DEC button it should give you the number you need.

AppleHDAPatcher says mine is an unspooprted Analog Codec. Is there any hope? Its on an IBM Thinkpad Z60M.

I have the alc262, when i configure everything, I see the option for output, and i can play with adjusting the volume up and down, but i can not get any sound out of any speakers, on board laptop speakers, headphones etc. please guys help me out, is there something else i have to adjust???
macgirl
Today I got the Ubuntu and Kubuntu Install Disks, with these I got sound on speakers (of course they are usign the ALSA driver that patches or bridge the headphones jack to the speakers and detects when a plug is inserted so silence the speakers and pass the shout to that jack)

I fetch the codec#0 and now it has another sound option I think is the Digital (SPDIF) output through the HDMI connector, I have not an HDMI cable, decoder, Display so I can't confirm this now.

Anyway if anyone want the dump here it is:

in Mac OS I still getting sound only from headphones Jack 1 only
pipapipo310
how do i know what kind of sigmatel driver / codec i m using?
amir1
I really do not know what to do now, i can't hear any sound. However I can play with the volume adjustment and i see the output in the settings, but no sound from laptop speakers or external speackers or headphones.... grrr.... im going crazyyyyyyy

I've been searching the forums for an hour and can't seem to find a fix for my conexant hd audio. My HP dv6000 laptops internal speakers work, but that's it. I really need my headphones.
anybody who has something to contribute to get our Conexant HDA working, please do so here.

Thanks,

Using 10.4.10 xXx installer disc I was able to get the audio to work out of the box the first time around,
now the second time around it's not working of course.

dell e510, which is the same as e310 and e5105
with sigmatel audio
i just cant find the driver

which i take the codec dump from here :http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/HCL_10.4.8/Desktops
and drop it into the patcher, it says * Detected unsupported SigmaTel Codec

not sure how to find my device id, because it's not showing up anywhere.

ideas?

Taruga, please
can you make this patch for Leopard
I use Intel 975xbx and it have Sigmatel 9221, but not have sound
All it works, but no sound =(((
please

Hi,
I wanted to thank everybody here for their effortss to make these Sounds working.
I think finding a good match for any listed soundcard here is even harder than writing a new one! in this mess I see here (126 page!) no one can find the answer.
For example me, I can't find a way to enable my Volume bar for my CMI9880 on ICH6 of my Asus p5AD2-e mobo, and of course I have only 2-ch audio (anyhow I'm using analog speakers and I have 4-ch artificialy!).
HDAPatcher won't work for my CMI9880 dump file I found in the link provided in the download instruction (on first page), it says Unsupported C-Media Codec detected!.
Any guide? Am I missing a point (maybe I need to create my own Linux dump on my PC - which for sure I don't know how! unsure.gif ).
Big man taruga is missing and nobody knows how to go on this project (specially when I think no one intrested in cmi9880!-poor Sound card!).
I have an Creative audigy, but as everybody (for sure) knows, there would be no compatibility for it, so I have to use my onboard Sound card, I have sounds (thanks God!) but, only 2-ch,no input(nothing important here), no volume control, lots of jitters on some bitrates and much more frustration here...
I love this Mac, But I love music more, what a hard life to live! wacko.gif

Everything with the sound works great in Ubuntu 7.10, so I got my own code dump from that and used it with the 1.6 patcher (I'm running uphuck 10.4.9 v1.4i).

Basically after I reboot, I get no sound in/out and nothing is listed in the Audio section of System Preferences. Also, the audio part of System Profiler shows nada.

If anyone has any ideas, I'd be eternally grateful. wink.gif

I'll attach my linux dump in case anyone wants to take a peek.

does this work on ALC888? or is there a ADI AD1988B driver?

It seem's that there are some outstanding cards that do not work in the sigmatel 9200 line. I have a Dell D420 that I have spent the good part of 2 weeks trying to patch, reinstall, repair...etc ...etc.

I have tried tarugas patcher (all version) and it seems to detect everything correctly and attempt to patch the kexts but....no luck after reboot. I have tried my own codec dump from this machine as well as many of the others posted on various threads.

Here is the top info of of the dump

Codec: SigmaTel STAC9200
Address: 0
Vendor Id: 0x83847690
Subsystem Id: 0x102801d6
Revision Id: 0x102201

I am usually really good about searching the forums and finding the solutions but alas I need to ask for help. I have attached the full Codec dump from Linux for this machine. Any help would be appreciated. I would be willing to test anything anyone can offer.

Peace,

Hi guyz and thanks for the effort to make our life easier

My question is why there is support for everything but ALC862

everyday i come to check on the forum and yet nothing about ALC862

I have no mic no input and each time I use skype I have to switch to windows
for those who got a full working alc862 please raise your hands thanks

I tried using the guide and hexediting AppleHDA, but I had no success. I also can't see to find any information about my particular vendor/subsystem id. The vendor id doesn't seem to match any sigmatel 9227 documents I've seen.

Codec: SigmaTel STAC9227
Address: 2
Vendor Id: 0x83847618
Subsystem Id: 0x80860420
Revision Id: 0x100201

I have exactly the same codec. It has been possible to run only way out, microphone in the system but there is not working. AppleHDA Patcher used v1.16

Hey yeuthem, I couldn´t get the headphone to work yet, I only have the internal speakers working via AppleAzalia, sorry, I´m looking how to make it work, I tried all the three ALC262 test and none of them worked for me, if you get everything working please tell me how, thanks.

I have headphones working but not internal speakers (and this is what i need... of course!) .
I'have alifebook c1040; tried with 10.4.8, .9, .10, whit the azalia audio method nothing working and only a generic output device shown in system preferences.
With taruga's test kext now headphones are working (with test1, test2 and test3) and internal speakers are shown only with test2 and test3 but never working.
As i undestood, many people can get alc262 working with the azalia method (most of them have speakers working and not headphones).
Does anyone have the same laptop and internal speakers workings ????
Thanks for your help

macosse, i have the same situation as you...
i'm using lifebook s7110 on 10.4.8 and 10.4.9...
only able to get sound from headphones and not the speakers
J_Zar
I hacked a little with Taruga guide and my ALC262. My driver is actually broken. It works but with some lockups. I report here a zip and a readme. I need help to get this working. I'm actually in a deadline...

Headers and Speaker are both working. Mic seems to be working but causes a lockup with output.

CODE
WARNING! THIS IS AN ALPHA DRIVER FAR FROM BEING FUNCTIONAL....
EVEN IF I'VE NEVER EXPERIENCED REAL PROBLEMS, USE IT AT YOUR OWN RISK!

BACKUP AND RESTORE
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
o)- To backup. If you are using AppleHDA, from console:

sudo mkdir /backup
sudo cp -f -R /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext /backup

o)- To restore. If you were using AppleAzalia:

sudo rm -f -R /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext

If you were using a previous AppleHDA and you did a backup as above:

sudo cp -f -R /backup/AppleHDA.kext /System/Library/Extensions

and reboot.

INSTALLING
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The following Kext works only for the following Realtek 262 model:

Vendor Id: 0x10ec0262
Subsystem Id: 0x104d1600

Check your hardware subsystem id before installing it.

To install it, open a console and type:

sudo su -
cd /YOURPATH_TO_THIS_KEXT_ZIP/
cp -f -R ALCinject.kext /System/Library/Extensions
cp -f -R AppleHDA.kext /System/Library/Extensions
rm -f -R /System/Library/Extensions.*
diskutil repairPermissions /

Finally reboot.

FEATURES:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- speaker out
- headphones
- mic in *

KNOWN ISSUES:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- there are lockups in the play.
- opening system preferences -> sound  will mute all channels for some time.
Closing system preferences will re-enable your device after some seconds.
- speaker and headphones are connected to the same mixer. Actually is the only way
I found to make work both. You can't choose the ouput. Both will work,
but you can select the one active with the jack of your headephones.
- if device is not playing, there are strange clicks...
- You can see input mic working from system preferences -> sound.
The level meter shows the right input value of the mic. However
input seems not to work with Skype or other software. It seems to be
  a lockup.

@ discin420style and anyone still having problems getting any output from the Sigmatel 9200 / stac9200:

Try the attached dump with your Taruga patcher of choice. I'm still having problems muting and getting the speakers to shut off when headphones are plugged in, but that's another project altogether.

Keep your eyes peeled at this thread: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=15474

>>SoundMax Integrated HD Audio<<
bamdad
hi everyone,

hmm.. i have read through these forums and learned that my card is the most popular and still no driver patch for it (p5b deluxe with soundmax adi ad1988b). not that i am displeased with anyone or anybody, and hey, the appleazaliaaudio tweak provides stereo output for these damn 1988b's too.

my question is directed to those who are more well versed in hardware than myself:

somewhere in bios setup i can choose between 'hd audio' and 'ac97' i see no change when i set it eitherway, but can this help me? like.. suppose i set it to 'ac97' and then i can use some of the drivers? please help, i would positively need mic input or line-in.

thanks,
bamdad
