hi folks,

currently i'm running on 10.4.7 Jas OS X86 on my Medion MD8083XL (P4 3GHz, SSE2, 1GB RAM, ATI9700XL).
Now I want to go inline via W-LAN. The built-in miniPCI (prism) card will not work as an airport (even not with GTdriver).

Which PCI-card (W-LAN) should I install to run proper under OS X86?
Out-of-the-box as an airport extreme would be very nice :-)

Please send me your advices.
Thank so much.

Please refer to my signature below. When I freshly installed 10.4.5 (in fact 10.4.4 with 10.4.5 update patch), it recognized as Airport right after first reboot. However, I have tried to installed 10.4.6 and 10.4.7 freshly, neither of them recognized my wireless miniPCI. Need IO80211Family.Kext from 10.4.5 update file.

thanks bruce,

currently i have installed the gtdriver and my wlan network will be displayed.
strange is that i cannot confirm wep password. so there will be no correct connection.

i will try 10.4.5's io80211family.kext - maybe it will work

@Bruce Wang: your Gigabyte GC-WIAG wireless has an Atheros chipset. OSX has built-in drivers for Broadcom and Atheros. If your device id is already in the info.plist file in the driver, then your card will be recognized.

sniperviper has said that his card has a Prism chipset. He has tried using the only Prism driver available. Since OSX doesn't support a Prism chipset, kexts from other versions of OSX will not solve his problem. Only a new card will.

thanks for comments rammjet
gtdriver may work without encrypted wlan. but thats not secure for me.
its a strange effect i have. ssid will be shown as activated but no transfer is possible.

think i have to buy a pci card. but what card will be supported without patching, tweaks, etc.?
