pure f@#$in' genius. i spent hours trying to get this to work thinking it was a driver issue as to not powering the chip, and this fix worked. awesome. ty

Hi all,
I've seen neo tha you have to tweak a little the networkinterface.plist, but i don't know how... My card is recognized as pci ethernet even it's onboard. This is not really a problem, but if it could be perfect i would be cool. Thankks

Only wondering, if someone could write down this solution to network drivers in OSX...
cursivearmy
finally it worked! awesome! snappy as ever. 945gzm-s2.
I had absolutely no idea how to install this thing but I figured it out.

OSX didn't recognized my 8168/8111 so I installed the driverd and now I can see it in Network window with a green light. I can even log in to my modem properties page in Safari (192.168.2.1) and change settings but I can't go any further. No internet!
Any idea?

By the way, I am a noob and these are my first experinces with OS X so say something i can understand wacko.gif

Hi all!
Great news: found a driver for RTL8111B/RTL8168B/RTL8111/RTL8168/RTL8111C on Realtek's site here.
don't know actually when they release it, but it shows 2007/1/10 and version is 1.1.1
I have Asus P5PL2 with RTL8111B on-board. Recently used solution from DaemonES link. works fine except that freezes network traffic once a day or two. uninstalled it with provided script, installed manufacturer's solution, rebooted and voila: network settings remains and everything seems to be ok!
testing right now...
have a nice work.

Update:

Nope! Can't find the solution: it still freezes after several hours of working... Maybe it is MacOS's or Kernel's fault?
I think it depends on number of connections...

I'Ve got an Problem with the uphuck 10.4.9 v1.4i for AMD Release and my Realtek 8139 PCI Card.
The card was detected right by the OS, but when i open the Network Settings it shows me a wrong IP (screenshot added). In the Networking Preferences panel it shows me the Ethernet Card orange, also the card runs but the IP was assigned automatically, and so maybe there could be Problems with connecting to the Internet. And thats my problem, i can't connect.
I think it'S because of it detects a wrong IP, but when I set the IP settings by my own, it do not work, too.

Thanks for your fine work!

Thank you for your efforts, drivers work on great on my Gigabyte GA-945GZM-S2.
However, they always load as en2. Is there a way to have them use en0? I already tried editing the files in /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration, without any success sad.gif

I had installed the IONetworkingFamily.kext and RealtekR1000.kext driver.
but when i installed it,i can connect the Internet by the driver.

Hey,

Every few reboots into OS X I get a message saying the driver can no longer be used, is there a solution for this? When it loads it works great, I'd just rather not have to reinstall it every few restarts. Thanks!

It works fine on this config.

Sharing solutions...

The configuration :
Hackintosh GA-P35-DS3-R with on board RealTek 8168 Ethernet Controller
C2D 2.6 GHz -> 3.2GHz ; 4GB RAM ; 250GB SATA HD ; 250GB IDE HD ; DVD-R IDE
xXx 10.4.10 basic and recommended components only
Additional Drivers :
RealTekR1000 (RealtekR1000.kext from xXx)
JCCool X1950XT driver (v0.1)
alc889a audio (ALCinject.kext and AppleHDA.kext)
AppleVIAATA.kext (from xXx updated with IDE controller ID as http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=66891 with value 0x2363197b)
note : installation must still be performed with DVD SATA !

What works :
On the Network side :
AppleTalk file sharing with Apple G4 through Ethernet 100Mb
Internet sharing through Apple G4 Airport connection
And :
USB out of the box (including 1GB key, Bluetooth dongle)
X1950XT with QE/CI, dual screen, rotation...
IDE HD and DVD on IDE connectors (issue on large file transfers -> freeze)
Stereo audio (haven't tried more yet)

I have the GA-P35-DS3P Motherboard with Realtek 8111B Lan and it works well with the RT1XXX_1.02.pkg installer in OSX 10.4.10.

However, the installer doesn't work in Leopard! Anyone have a work around for Realtek 8111B for Leopard?

Thanks
Satyr
Same here, kext won't load on Leopard. Although Leo comes (thanks to one who made release?) with
kext for 8168 and network card is recognized, it doesn't work. I took a peek inside new kext but can't
really figure out the difference between old and new one.

Ok, I changed this in info.plist:

<key>com.apple.iokit.IONetworkingFamily</key>
<string>1.5</string>

to

<string>1.4.3</string>.
Now kext loads and log displays MAC addy but theres an error thet goes something like:
Networking : cannot determine UUID or something like in that style.
Networking applet in sys preferences says that network cable is unplugged.
I think that is due to UUID error 35 that plagues Leo installations.
Funny thing is that after first Leo boot, right after install, network worked then stopped
and couldn't get IP address from DHCP anymore.

So if there is any solution for 8168 users on Leopard? :-(
Azurael
My P35C-DS3R's onboard 8168 works in Leo (using the Apple-provided driver), but only if the network cable is connected at boot, otherwise I get an error about MAC timeout in the system log, and it never brings the link up if the cable is connected/other computer/router powered on after boot.

I don't think this Realtek chip is anywhere near as good as the Marvell 88E805x chips Gigabyte used on the 965 boards sad.gif Decent throughput in Windows, but much higher CPU usage. I don't know why they changed chips.
tokra128
Well, I am thinking to go for a msi p965 platinum mainboard .. but I have a problem .. the network card on that board is Realtek 8111B .. so I wonder.. it is or it is not working with leo ?
Me123
Realtek R8111/8168 works for me in Leopard (Mainboard: Gigabyte P35-DS3P).
If you are a windows user, make sure to enable "Wake on lan after shutdown" in the advanced tab of your network card driver settings dialog (at least for WinXP, no idea if this also applies to Vista)
tokra128
Me123 - how did you solve that ? what driver did you use ?

Me123
Unfortunately I can't give you a walk through. All of this is from out of my head:

My Network worked on the first reboot directly after installing Leopard. After the next reboot (probably to XP) I stopped working. I was able to see a en0 and a Mac Address, but no ping went through.

I tried the Realtek drivers from sourceforge (RealtekR1000_1.04.zip), using the contained "installrelease" script. Played a bit with loaddebug etc. and since my Network still wasn't working I used the "uninstall" script to remove the drivers, so the following might depend on whether the install/uninstall scripts worked correctly in Leopard.

Finally I remembered the "Wake on Lan after shutdown" workaround that was necessary with my old board. I enabled it in XP, rebooted to Leopard and voila, working Lan smile.gif
reb0rn
I had same problem network work only if i go from Vista -> Leopard (network led is on) and win XP disable its power and driver do not know how to properly turn it on... strange i had same problem with Ubuntu 7.4 but its fixed in Ubuntu 7.10 wink.gif i bet new driver can fix it or that Wake on Lan after shutdown will help in mean time smile.gif
Satyr
WOW! Me123 I owe you! It works with both drivers! Thanks!
skeeter144
Why don't you guys use the MacOS 10.4 driver that's on the Realtek site? It works fine for me.
nightwalker
I've got it installed from the koolkal 10.4.10 package...

i've noticed that if i dont have the ethernet cable plugged into it, mac can't go past the startup apple screen

once in a while the computer also restarts itself, i've got a feeling it's because of the R1000 driver...not 100% sure though
is there anyway to fix this??? sorry i'm a n00b to hackintosh

Here's my setup:
Motherboard: Asrock ConRoe1333-D667 R1.0 Bios 1.30
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0Ghz
Memory: 2 X 1GB DDR2
HD: Seagate 500GB SATA
