Finally I got my Realtek 8139 onboard LAN to work.
The probelm was because of the broken 10.4.8.iso. But I did not want to wait for the new release.

What I did was copying the AppleRTL8139Ethernet.kext from my old 10.4.6 to the 10.4.8
Then adding a few lines into terminal and that was it.

I had almost given up. So people with Realtek 8139 DON'T give up. There is a way to fix it.

Cheers

Is there any way you can share that info??? I'm looking everywhere and i did not manage to find anything useful...
at least for my desktop....
This Desktop is an AMD Athlon 3500+ with MS-7207 mobo (Nforce 410-Geforce 6100) but i 've added a Realteck 8139...
Thanxs in advance...
PS: If you want, just PM me....

gajda driver is not working for yet? I think I know how to fix this.
gajda
daemonES : Yes.Driver is not working.Same message in log :Could not setup IOmemory or something like that
DaemonES
gajda ok, this intermediate release 1.03 must solve you problem, see head post. Almost nothing new in this release. Also I'm planing to improve DHCP support.
~Neo
Hey!
Should I make a new Installer for 1.03?
If yes what are the changelogs? smile.gif
Thanks!

Well, your newly uploaded 1.03 didn't work for the 8169 on my Asrock conroe945g-DVI with 10.4.6 JAS (I first came to this thread about 3 minutes after you posted them!)

For some reason my MAC address was ff:ff:ff:ff:ff and it wouldn't connect with my router even with manual settings.

So I unloaded them and installed ~Neo's 1.02 package, rebooted, opened up Safari and it worked fine.

Phew! Thought i was going to have to dig out that old 8139 NIC in the bottom of my spares box.

I can now stop typing this message on the 26" screen of my Media Centre PC and go back to my new network enabled Hackintosh.

Thanks for all your work on these releases chaps.

All I gotta do now is get my sound working and get hold of a copy of iLife'06!
DaemonES
~Neo wait for a while, I need to have some testing with guys before releasing the driver. I'll PM you, OK? smile.gif

martianrobot OK, before you loading the driver, type in another terminal window tail -f /var/log/system.log
Then load debug version of the driver and send logs to me.

I have a problem with ethernet of Asus P5LD2 SE.E' one REealtek RTL8168. I have installed the 10.4.7 of jas. I must replace the IONetWorkingFamily.kext? where I take it? excused if my English e' perfertto but is not Italian
DaemonES
No, you don't need to replace IONetworkFamily kext
Layne_
I have tried of new rifaring the procedure but nothing what I must make just after to have open the folder?

for first cargo the loaddebug, but when I try to load it says me: not such file or directory that it means?
DaemonES
Punk92 the best way for you - wait until Neo makes a new installer.

OK, version 1.04 released, changelog:
- Improved general stability of the driver, single access guaranteed.
- Fixed DHCP bugs, now must works fine everywhere.
- Fixed bug on some MoBo's, while memory mapped registers didn't works.

I have installed package 1,02 and works very well... you feel you you know as to levare the message of the resolution to the start after to have installed macvidia 1.08?

DaemonES: You haven't had time to look at the register dump I sent you? Have any ideas about the issue I have? What I'm really asking, should I expect that the new version of the driver might solve my problem?? I will give the driver a spin also during the weekend. Cheers!

DeamonES: Ok.IŽll try your driver as soon as possible...thanks

I have installed RealtekR1000.kext from 1.04 package, it works perfectly BUT - I have to install it again on every second boot.
It simply tells me that RealtekR1000.kext is not correctly installed, so I install it again - boot - it works -> until next boot... this happens every time.

I have JaS 10.4.8 (SSE2 SSE3 release - new one) and MSI 865PE Neo2-P Platinum Edition MB with integrated Realtek 8110S Gigabit Lan.

I have manually installed kext to correct folder (didn't find installer) and have repaired permissions and deleted kextcache every time.

Hi,
I just installed MacOsX jas 10.4.8 on a config that looks like this:
- A64 3500+ AM2
- Asrock AliveXfire (RTL8111B / ALC888)
- Ati X850Pro (R480 core)
My last mac was a sys 7.5.5 one so you cam imagine I'm not in my best shape when it comes to macs.
Anyway, none of my HW was detected so I tried the installation kit ( http://www.installers.dl.am/ ). After reboot my video card got recognised as X800GTO (because of the core) but unfortunatelly I only see 2 vertical lines. sad.gif Tried reboot, but same problem. How can I uninstall the drivers (the install proces was 4h long so some help would be great).
Thnx.

Btw, my problem is similar to this one
DaemonES
tomtefar to bad, but I couldn't found nothing useful here. It seems, that problem not in power management.

pmalm I don't know exactly whats wrong, but this problem is not problem of driver at all.

Proof this problem not connected with this driver.
Proof
Ok, sorry, its just that the installer is 2 in 1 so I though I would post here. I'll do another thread or search for an exsiting one.
The thing that bothers me is that before the install there were a couple of commands which were suppose to reverse the process, it's just that I dont know which one were those...
tomtefar
DaemonES: Ok, well it's working with the rc.local fix so no problem. Thanks for your efforts anyway!
gajda
DaemonES:If I load 1.04 version everything is OK.Driver works(log1).But when I install him and reboot system crash and don't start(log2)
DaemonES
tomtefar maybe later, when I'll be more skilled in device drivers I can fix this smile.gif

Graphics chip error! Restarted.
Ooops... It seems, that this is a problem of NIC and graphic driver card interraction. You need to start network driver in the last order, when all driver are started. It seems, that this is not my problem. Apple are luckies, their have several configs, and can support them all well.
tomtefar
DaemonES: Right wink.gif

I get the graphics chip error sometimes but only with one out of 5 different NVIDIA cards I have (had), namely the Geforce 6500 TC. Nice to know where this comes from.
gajda
DaemonES:Yes I guess it.Never mind.I am hapy that I can connect to internet now.I will try to learn programming and write a script which runs terminal and load the kext hehe.Any idea? tomato.gif biggrin.gif
tomtefar
gajda:

Stick the driver into some other directory besides /System/Library/Extensions

Then go into /etc and add the line

CODE
kextload /the_dir_where_you_put_the_kext/RealtekR1000.kext

to the file rc.local
gajda
tomtefar: thanks thumbsup_anim.gif
DaemonES
BTW, I've found in Apple device driver mailing list the same problem, as I have. tomtefar, gajda how much RAM do you have on those systems with Graphics chip error bug?
renuspt
Hi

Sorry to ask

How do I install the driver on post #146. I believe pleople are saying that that one works with the Intel Ethernet Card.

Fantastic help smile.gif. Got this working within about 1 minute with my ethernet. Posting this from my new OSX86 laptop Thanks very much biggrin.gif.
remenic
Hi,

I installed the latest driver, and although at first glance is seems to work great, it gets unstable after a few minutes of usage.

After a few minutes of usage, the connection dies. I can't ping anything anymore, safari won't load pages, etc. Unloading the kext and then loading it again gives me the ability to ping, but as soon as I try to load a webpage, the network died again. No more ping replies, just nothing.

I've compiled the driver myself, with Debug configuration. Dmesg shows a lot of activity, even when the connection dies. In the system.log I can see that at a certain time (probably when the connection died) it only receives packets with packet len of '60'. Before that, it received packet lengths of arbitrary sizes.

I really have no idea what could be causing this. If you want, I can send you attach a copy of my system.log.

My hardware is a ConRoe945G-DVI running JaS 10.4.8 DVD.
roccoo
i'm sorry, but i can't undersand everything... in that zip file of page one there are many files and folders that i don't understand. Is there a step by step tutorial? does it work with 10.4.1?
MacAndor
Hello!

Please start working on the NVidia Go 6100 driver, because a lot of PC laptop users want to Install Mac OSX on their computers, but they are afraid, that they can't use OpenGL/QE/CI, and this (sadly) stay at Windows XP!!!

Please help me!!!
If it will work I will DONATE!!!

THX a lot.
DaemonES
remenic do you using AHCI mode for SATA hdds?

roccoo heh, open terminal, enter to the driver dir and type sh installdebug.sh. It may not work on 10.4.1, maybe recompilation is required.

MacAndor you rock man biggrin.gif Now I'm working on driver for series of JMicron PCI-E to SATA/PATA converters, and Attansic Gigabit LAN. I do not planning to work on nVidia 6100 driver, cause:
1. I have no hardware.
2. Video drivers are very complex. Of course I can contribute GeForce 6100 support to macvidia project, but now I'm not planning to do that.

Geez, I wish I knew. Can't find any mention of AHCI in my bios. Where do I check this?

Oh but I am using SATA II. Maybe AHCI implies SATA ?
MacAndor
Man!!!

I realy woul'd need that stuff, but I don't have a lot of programming skills, just a bit! If you could tell me how to write or rewrite a driver, then that would be realy good!!! I realy don't wanna bug you, but I need that "{censored}"!!!

Please help!
I only want to make OSX more popular in the laptop rounds.

Sorry for my eglish, but i'm from Hungary.

i can't install file 1.04. it seems that the Sourcefourge file is corrupted , please help me
ForestCat
DaemonES,

You are THE MAN! This "just works".

P.S. Feeling up to the Intel 3945 or the nvidia 7700 challenge? ;-)

--==ForestCat==--

Asus G1

nvidia 7700 Go

DaemonES
tinga it is not corrupted.
remenic
So DaemonES, I take it you don't know why my NIC stops working after a while? Please just say so (it won't hurt you, and it won't slim your chances of ever being an Apple employee!), because then I can stop refreshing this thread every once in a while tongue.gif

It's kinda strange, because I bought this specific mainboard as it seems to be pretty popular around here, and for most people it works without problems. Just not for me sad.gif

Thanks anyway!
tomtefar
DaemonES: Sorry for not responding until now on the question of how much RAM I have on the system that gives me the graphics chip error.

My system RAM is 2Gb and the memory on the 6500 TC is 64Mb. All the other NVIDIA cards I have tried have had 256 Mb.

i was downloading the zip file not the instaler. everything worked great. thank you!
DaemonES
remenic may I guess, you have the nVidia card? But I think the issue is something deeper in network equipment, which you have. Please submit bug through bugtracker at sourceforge, and post you full specs, including router and so on.

tomtefar thanks, I have an idea how to solve you problem.
tinga great, but looks very strange.
tomtefar
DaemonES: smile.gif Which one? The "can't load kext at start-up" or the "graphics chip error"?
DaemonES
tomtefar AHCI problem, but I think all of this issues are connected with each other.
Dr.Q
I have installed RealtekR1000.kext and the first time I boot after installation the driver works perfectly. However the second time I boot my system freezes when it tries to start the loginwindow. I found a workaround for this problem. If I delete the /System/Library/Extensions.mkext and /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache it will boot again. Ofcourse this is a far from optimal solution, any ideas as to what causes this weird problem.

My system: Asus V6j (laptop)
OS: JaS 10.4.8 (JaS 10.4.7 => eGWan combo update)
Ethernet: Realtek RTL 8168/81111
