Damn, well I ordered a
Realtek RTL8139D and I can't even get it to work. I've tried
John Stormdrake's driver and put my device and vendor id in the .plist file and still nothing is detected. I've even reinstalled a few times, but it just doesn't show up at all.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Device ID is 8139
Vendor ID is 1904

OK.. I think i solved the USB issue.. I think that macam driver is the problem..
Does anyone know of a cheap webcam that functions at a decent framrate with the macam driver?
The Logitech Quickcam chat I just bought should run at 30fps, but only runs at about 5fps with macam..
Cheers..

got working Sigmatel9227 using EFI string and patched AppleHDA.kext so no need for ALCinject.kext.
Fixing Sigmatel9227...
soooo that's all for now i think because
7300LE EFI - working,
Time Machine and UUID EFI fix - working,
Sigmatel9227 EFI - working

If it the case, could you give us more details about the way to manage gfx string?

it works just like with ALCinject. no change because the driver is in AppleHDA.kext not in ALCinject

I am facing a very peculiar problem since today. I am using a DG33FB mobo on a desktop. Now for the past 6/7 hours or so I am noticing a very strange phenomenon,i.e. my desktop would restart by itself after every one hour (approx) as if some unseen finger has pushed the restart button. Everything else is fine. I had never witnessed this so far. What might be the reason? Should I install another OS and isolate the problem to a OS or hardware area? Whoever can help, please help me!!!

piece of advice to anyone using software which requires challenge and response athorisation..
just before christmas i put a realtek nic into my pc as a stop-gap, while i wait for the kext from bigdaddyrob.. when i started working on music again with it in january, i discovered that some of my software had stopped working and required me to reauthorise it..
i have just spent the last few days doing this - and it was a real pain in the ass!!!!
the software in question had tied itself to the id of one of the chips in pc - usually the processor and/or the MAC address of an ethernet adapter - and had decided to change to my new network card.. if i decide to remove the card when the kext is avaliable, i will have to do this all over again..
things get worse.. some software now refuses to work at all.. it is trying to be smart and thinks that i have just copied it to a different machine - since it is detecting new hardware ids - and refuses to authorise using the orginal keygens..
my advice - if you are using pro software that requires keygens - is to think carefully before add/removing any network adapters..

@frantisheq: Thanks for all your feedbacks.
Can someone describe the kext used or settings used to make shutdown process correctly work?
On my side, I use Kalyway 10.5.1 + NVinject 0.2.1 + NVidia beta Kext from 10.5.2 + AppleHDA Patcher 1.16 with Sigmatel Dump 9227.
The power button is still on after shutdown, I need to push it during 2-3 seconds to complte the shutdown process.

What ever happened to some basic respect? If he has the kext and he worked hard for it to get this working: fine and be patient. If he hasn't: well we'll find out. If I would be in his situation there would also be things I would like to arrange first before posting a kext to the community...
If you really can't wait to get ethernet working: buy a USB ethernet adaptor (like the LinkSys USB200M): they're good, cheap, fast and work right out-of-the-box
Just my thoughts...

I wonder why you named your kext as SmallTree82594!?
The other thing that ocupies my mind is where is the source code? SmallTree just gave it to you, or this is a binary hack. If later, it will not work. Period.
Now be honest with us, upload sources (i have experience in coding drivers and I'm willing to help), or just tell us that you were messing with us to put an end on this f.....g 82566 nightmare!

Thank you for share the kext a lot of people, including me, were waiting for this..
However a lot of questions remain, the ID's within the kext doesn't make any sense, they don't seems related to the 82566 family. After matching the ID with my card the kext is not loaded, even after a manual load it doesn't work.
If you have the source upload it, some people around here should be able to help.

Hey man, no problemo! Some people should start reading some more topics here in OSX86Project! It's not the first time that a developer quits working on a driver because too many people started to get impatient. Another good example of this "omni" who stopped his work on the Callisto (video) drivers due to problems with people not really sticking to the rules...
Well, I hope everybody is happy now and we can continue to try to get this driver working on most systems...

Sorry if I sounded rude it wasn't my intention.
What I was trying to said was that the ID's in the plist file within the kext doesn't look like 82566 ones, in my case is 0x104b8086. The kext is not loaded automatically even after matching the ID with my hardware and a manual kextload doesn't change anything, the NIC remain unrecognized. So I was wondering, which is your NIC ID ? did you do something special to load the kext or match your card ID?
Cheers and thanks for your work.

Been reading through most of this thread but there are way too many posts.
I finally got OSX working on my Dimension 9200 (XPS 410 in disguise) and i'm having a few problems.
I used Kalyway 10.5.1 install disk.
My first problem is that the computer won't wake back up properly after clicking sleep on the menu.
The second is that clicking on stacks will cause a hard lock in finder. Mouse cursor still moves and keyboard is still responsive to caps lock changes but finder is totally unresponsive.
System Specs:
Dimension 9200 (XPS 410)
- Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4GHz
- 8600GT (with 10.5.2 kexts)
- Audio working with AppleHDA patcher and 9227 patch
- No network like everyone else (this whole driver debacle with bigdaddyrob2g reminds me of the guys at increw with speedit)
- Dell agere firewire card (fully working)
- some modem i think
- 2x320GB drives in RAID, 1x250, 1x80GB for OSX (BIOS is set for RAID mode, OSX seems to work fine with this so i don't know if this is an issue)
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out.

@Bigdaddyrob2g, don't give up.
Really.
If the port is going to be made from the real 82566 FreeBSD source, then @everybody: IT WILL WORK.
again @bigdaddyrob2g, if it doesn't work on your computer, post the kext source/binaries online and it might work on ours, since it's a port from the 82566 source instead of the 82594.
