I decided to install logic express without really reading about how it doesnt work. Now my audio is gone. Is this a common problem? I have an AC97 sound card, onboard my ASUS P4C-E motherboard. I really dont want to have to reinstall OS X.

I had the same problem, what I did was use AppZapper to uninstall Quicktime, also shut down and unplug your computer (I think that has something to do with the motherboard "refreshing"). It could be just a fluke, but that worked for me.
