Use this thread for Stoplight 1.1 bugs.

First of all, thanks for the great plugin. However, with this version I found that if you set the stoplight to close the app if its the last window instead of mac default (in the preference pane). The computer doesn't shutdown or restart. Everytime you press the shutdown button. It goes blank but comes back again.

Could be just my laptop though not sure.

Thanks

it wont quit firefox.

Firefox isn't Cocoa, so it can't.
np101137

Um... Last time I checked, iChat was Cocoa.
np101137
does it work with hackintosh?
skippyretard
iChat works fine for me on the desktop in my sig.

PS; just tested restart and shutdown, both still work.

StopLight 1.1 crashed Pages 2.0.1 trying to save. Fortunately, I had attempted saving very early on.

When I uninstalled StopLight, the problem in Pages was corrected. When I re-installed StopLight, the problem in Pages recurred. Darn. I liked StopLight with Safari.

Seems to be working fine but I'm now getting an error message whenever i open Safari. I don' think this is related to Stoplight directly but i just thought i'd share it. This is the erorr:

SIMBL Error

Safari 2.0.4 (v419.3) has not been tested with the plugin SafariDockStatus (null) (v1.0.2). As a precaution, it has not been loaded. Please contct the plugin developer for futher information.

It has never done this until i got Stoplight running. good job with the update.

I'm running Leopard, so my bugs may be unusual, but when Stoplight is enabled, QuickSilver starts, and quits after a second, and also pressing command-w on safari logs me out, although I didn't test anything else out, so there are probably tons of other bugs.

Using the Hide If Last Window option, I can't quit TextEdit even using command-Q unless I save the document I was working in. I suspect that this was not meant to be a sneaky "make sure they save their work" feature. wink.gif

Hi,

This is an really extension. Love it. but... i think we got a problem with keynote. Everytime double-click in keynote -> Close completely. smile.gif should I need ignore keynote or it a bug ?

I also think there is also the problem with Quicksilver

Stoplight Prevents Shut-down

Whenever I try to shut down my computer, it logs me off. I'd imagine that those who have "automatic login" enabled will return back to their desktop almost instantly (as described by one poster above.) Once I'm at the login screen, I can shut it down since obviously the plugin isn't active.

Anyway, this seems like a persisting problem for a lot of people. It's nothing serious, but it's annoying.

Hi,

thank you for the app smile.gif

I am not sure if this is caused by Stoplight, but today I had the following problems:

- prefpane>displays does not close anymore
- iPhoto does not close anymore

- iMovie and iDVD shuts down after clicking an option to make a movie/dvd
- Safari quits when changing saft fullscreen back to normal

Will uninstall, reboot and post my results again.

// EDIT:

Did this and after uninstall everything of the above went back to normal.

So I won't recommend to install Stoplight atm. Let's wait for Go-lite laugh.gif scnr.

Again, thanks for your great effort.

iPhoto 6 works?

I want to hide (not close) with the red button, but this don't work for me... sad.gif

Trying to shutdown, logs you out. Going to about this mac and closing the window logs you out.

ive installed 1.1.... went fine to the close all windows thing,,, but it dont want me to shutdown, log off or restart.. when doing one it just return to the gui after quick black of the screen.. and quicksliver will simple crash after auto start when login...

i have removed it and back to normal now ... i can log off, restart and shutdown... but this is a promising appz... and ill keep on watching its development..

No offense, but is Stoplight pretty much abandoned? The first wave of bugs were squashed within a day or two, but it's been over a week now since some of the more prevalent bugs were discovered. Although it is open source, the creator(s) obviously knows his own application better than anyone else, but it appears he/they lost interest in it...

I can't believe somebody won $500 plus donations for an application that's too buggy to be used without causing annoyances. And this program was supposed to solve OS X annoyances! *mutters to self* This could be a big problem with future contests. Once people get paid, they know they won't make any more money, and they feel no obligation to fix bugs.

Hi guys! I've the same problem stoplight doesn't allow shutdown or reboot in my hackintosh, I think it is the cause, because I read about this problem here for other having the same. I like this app but tell me how to uninstall it for now, I'm a newbie in mac and don't know how to do. Thank you very much for your help, bye.

having same problem of being unable to shutdown unless in the Stoplight prepane "close" is set to MacOS default - perhaps if you could remove "System Preferences" from the excluded applications it would work!
VictoryCig
Stoplight prevents Quicksilver from starting properly. After installing Stoplight, Quicksilver would startup and then immediately quit. I uninstalled Stoplight's pref pane and hack package, and Quicksilver is now working fine.

Hope this helps someone :)

I also have the "quit on load" problem with Quicksilver.
I tried to add it to the excluded applications list, or add an exception for it, but it didn't help. Maybe it's related to the weird filename of Quicksilver.app
To fix, I changed the "Close" option for "Default Behaviors" to "Mac OS Default", then added exceptions for the couple of application I want to use Stoplight with.

Please someone fix the app... App creators?. I got annoyed with the whole double logout/shutdown thing so I unistalled it. I love the application and it works great with many applications, so I would hate to lose it forever. Thanks.

Spotlight doesn't play well with Quicksilver. Quicksilver opens then quits. I have listed it in the exceptions however it has not resolved the problem. Only removing Spotlight allows Quicksilver to open.

In addition to quicksilver ibsteve2, Crossover Office simpy refuses to launch! Imagine my frustration after hours spent wondering why my machine didn't reboot or shutdown, why Quicksilver quit then refused to open and why I could no longer try out the new Crossover Beta =P

I've added the above apps to the excludes and changed the "X" button action to "Mac OS Default." Let's see if Stoplight plays nice, otherwise it's going to the trashcan.
ibsteve2
Please let us know if that works.

Steve

Stoplight has caused major print problems for me in FileMaker, Mailsmith and BBEdit. Try to print, and the application you're working in quits instantly (hard crash). TextEdit (e.g.) does not crash and will print.

Getting rid of the pref pane and the SIMBL plugin solved the problem. Cost me (too much) time to find out Stoplight was the culprit.

'iAnnoyance' indeed...

Stoplight has a bug where it doesn't check if the previous window delegate was already self. (Stoplight makes the window's new delegate self and then sends messages to the old delegate, causing a loop if that delegate happened to be self.)

A few Stoplight users are also DVDpedia, Bookpedia and Gamepedia users and this was the case with my programs. Attached is a fixed version of Stoplight for users of the Pedias or other programs where users experience the loop crash.

I have also confirmed that the "close app if last window is closed" causes the restart/shutdown command to only logout, requiring an additional request to shutdown/restart.

I also found a bug that about caused me to kill myself, if you go to "about this mac" and click for more information (the app that brings up serial numbers etc) the system logs you out without ANY warning to save any work or anything.

Seriously, a lot of crying happened.
Teg
I installed the posted "stoplight fixed" and it didn't fix my two items I just mentioned (restart requires two requests, and the "more about this mac" button instantly logs you out).

I'd also like to point out that the maximize button appears to place the window 1 pixel to the right of far left (I still see one pixel line worth of my background image).

And lastly I would like to add that I love this plugin so much that I install it on every machine I touch.
Teg
an update to the 1 pixel line that's visible on maximization, it happens on whichever side the dock is on, so my claim that it happened on the left was because that'a where my dock was, it moved to the right when I moved my dock there... which is silly because the dock still shows and hides even if I move a window half way off the screen and completely cover the dock line.
launcelot
A similar problem occurred in my Mac.
This problem will not occur by setting "Default Behaviors" to "Mac OS Default".

Feature request:

With some apps, like an IM client, I don't want the app to quit after I close the last window, but having it lose focus would be nice.

I don't know if OSX has a focus tree, one where the application could go to the back of the line and the next up would then take over, but it SEEMS it should because if I press apple-h to HIDE something, the app that comes up next is logical and appears to be ordered nicely.

I submitted what I thought were pretty serious bugs like 3 months ago, the "shut down causes logoff" bug is pretty silly but the "about this mac" crash is straight up catastrophic.

Isn't this the "official" bugs thread. Is the app going to get supported? Cmon guys, how hard can it be? I really love the modifcations it makes but this is rapidly approaching abandon-ship time.

Same troubs for me on my AMD, iBook G4 works flawlessly with it though.

Endnote X.0.2 is incompatible with Spotlight 1.1. Endnote will not open with Spotlight installed.
