I installed OSX 10.4.3 last night and it was working perfectly (except for freeze on reboot which I can deal with). This afternoon I was watching a video on youtube when the sound stopped, volume control disappeared. I restarted the computer it did not come back. I deleted the kextcache and restarted still nothing. Im at a complete loss on this one.

System Specs:
Abit AA8XE
Intel Chipset i925
AC97 HD Audio
1GB DDR II RAM

If anyone has any ideas on why this would happen it would be greatly appreciated. If you need more information just ask.

Hmm, have you repaired disk permissions? and double checked to see if the kext still exits?

To be honest I am not sure what kext it was using.
And I did try to repair permissions there were some permissions it fixed, however it did not bring my sound back.

Well, I dont know but I restarted my machine again today and audio came back. Im gonna try and find out what kext it is using. So I can further track down the problem.

OK, im going nuts. Audio stopped again. I wish I could just go buy a Mac Pro, but waiting a few months to see if Apple releases the 20'' iMac with the Duo 2 (i want 64bit leopard )

If anyone has any ideas on what i can try to resolve this audio problem it would be greatly appreciated.

does anyone have any idea how to get my sound working again, or why it would be working fine for days then stop then start again. Its sparatic and I dont see any kext fail during boot when it does not work

I acquired OS X 10.4.6 which has seen my Sound Card since install and is working perfectly now.
