Update for you guys... the IONetworkingFamily.kext that I downloaded here allowed my wireless to be used without the en0 to en1 hack anymore. This then enabled me to be able to use Qmaster without getting an Aecore exception error. So double thanks.

Any updates on getting this to work with 10.4.9 IONetworkingFamily kext?
The 10.4.9 kext works better with my NIC.
Does anyone know what fix A.Woland made for the 10.4.8 fix?

Apr 30 2007, 10:38 AM
any chance of it working on 10.4.9?
I installed the fix (actually, a lot of "warnings" and "errors" came out in the Terminal as someone else said in a previous post), reboot but Maya won't start.
I used the OPA, and it seems to be ok...(previously, before the fix, it did not show any address).
Now when I start Maya, it freezes and I have to reboot the system.
Any suggestions?
thanks

It is for Maya 8.5 + 10.4.9 + 8.9.1
If you don't have this combination it may not work. But if you have 10.4.8 + 8.8.1 then you should be able to use the old patch.
Good Luck!

Hi!
I was trying to get qmaster, fcut, compressor and maya 8.5 to work.
I have a Dell laptop with broadcom ethernet 440x and dell wireless 1500.
I used networkinginterfaces.kext from 10.4.6 to get the ethernet to work and did the "switch trick" for the wireless.
If then i put back in networking.....plist en0, then qmaster, compressor and fcut work, but maya doesn,t.
so i made what its said near the end of this maya thread.
Then macos wasnīt able to boot, so i had to boot in safe mode, i repaired the premissions and maya worked, but fcut studio apps donīt, so i switch back to en0 and they worked but maya didnīt, but instead of launching the autodesk product program it gives me an error in the license or something like that and in the log it appears the infamous "aecore" but fcut apps are working and i donīt understand why.
did someone managed to get maya and fcut apps like qmaster, compressor and fcut pro to work?
thanks
Edit: what do you mean riktor? i donīt understand whatīs the question

Hi all,
i'm on OSX 10.4.9 From UpHuck 1.3 on an AMD System (Universal Kernel 3 - ACPI Patch - Natit v0.2). And the Patch that Fix IONETWORKINGFAMILY used for the 10.4.8 OSX System works Perfectly on 10.4.9 for me. But i've got only one problem, Final Cut Pro 6/Qmaster/Compressor doesn't launch or for final cut, it starts and after 2 questions about my configuration it stops. I think it comes because of the changes on IONetworkingFamily.kext.
Anybody's got an idea ?

You are getting the aecore exeception error, have you changed your en0 to en1 to get any sort of network device working? You can try deleting your networkInterface.plist in /Library/Prefrences/SystemConfiguration/ and OS X will make another on reboot.
to Highspeed, there was no question it just solved my issues with my en0 to en1 hack and I was able to use both maya, FCP, and my wireless with no issues.

riktor, please, can you describe exactly what you did since installation, what files you used (the plist, the kext, the patch, if you can post them would be great), etc...
i think i tried everything but still donīt get it to work at the same time.

I used the maya network family fix for maya and then after that I was able to change my en1 that I had previously set because my wireless would not work with out it. I set it back to en0 and maya and Qmaster/Compressor work fine.

Hi everyone!..
I got a terrible english, but I hope find some people who can help me... thank you in advance...!
= )
I got the same problem, my maya doesnt run in my DELL 640m/1405, C2D 1.8ghz, Intel GMA, Sigmatel 9200, InteProWireless(no drivers at today), and ethernet NIC Broadcom 440x (fI ound the patch!)... youll see:
Few days ago, I made the install of the 10.4.6, and Maya work with no problems, even the broadcom(I used a kext of IONetworkFamily of 10.4.6 from wiki osx86 project, to make my broadcom fully functional), but the sound doesnt work...
Then, later, got the uphuck 10.4.9 v1.3 (universal kernel 3), and the broadcom and sound work great (I used an HDA solution found in wikiosx86, and the IOnetworking patch mentioned earlier), but It fails to install maya because It doesnt detect my ethernet mac adress as valid... so I found the forum and the treath about all this.
I try to update the IOnetwork... with the files mentioned along the treaht here, but I think Im doing something wrong...
Can anyone help me, (patiente will be appreciated!!!) how made functional my broadcom 440x, maya 8.5, and sound togheter with uphuck 1.3, or some other solution???
( I try the files of this treath but im stuckl without to make maya work, and I dont want to go back to 10.4.6 because the sound doesnt work there)
Again, thank you for read my post!
Greetings!
Jerry.

Can anyone please post a very comprehensive, detailed tutorial on how to fix this Maya/FlexLM? There seems to be a solution that needs compiling of some sort another is to delete the .plist file or something. Post needed files as well if any. Thanks. ahoi together,
here a small update to my problem:
i took a fresh 10.4.8 jas install with the 8.8.1 kernel and installed the patched ionetworkfamily.kext.
after that i installed maya 2008 without any probs with the aw.dat file.
started maya and.... voilā..... started perfect !!
then i tried to update on 10.4.9 with
this method.
update went fine and os x is running as expected.
but no luck with maya. it goes to a kernel panic during its try to start.
restart and replaced the ionetwokrfamily with the idisk file. restart. no luck. still kernel panic.
so, i guess, something needs to be changed during the update method above mentioned. but what?
maybe i can change the needed files after the updates? because iīrunning already 10.4.10 with 8.10.1
who has updated successfully to 10.4.10 with which kernel and update method and uses maya successfully?
would be great to get your help !!

Um, ya, how do you add the patch? I'm not a noob to mac's, but I am a noob to the whole patching/programming thing with this Flexlm stuff. If anyone is feeling really bored and wants something to do, could you post it here on how to patch Maya? I'm trying to install Maya 2008, it came with a awKeygen.exe(PC) I know) and a aw.dat file as well. It says it can install for mac and it did come in a dmg file. It installs and everything but I can't get past the licencing part. The instructions that came with the keygen are this:
1. First Create a directory on the c: drive (even if you install maya on different drive) called
FLEXLM
2. Copy the aw.dat and awkeygen.exe file to this directory.
3. Install Maya
4. Goto start-->all programs-->Autodesk-->common utilities-->FlexLM license utilities
5. Under system settings copy Ethernet address
6. Open the file (from the directory FLEXLM) aw.dat with Wordpad and replace the words "your host"
with the copied Ethernet address. Save and close wordpad
7. Using the run utility and type: awkeygen.exe aw.dat
8. Goto start-->all programs-->Autodesk-->Autodesk Maya 2008-->Licensing
select "I have a license that I need to install-->I would like to install license from a file"
9. Browse to the path of the file aw.dat
10. Click install
11. Restart computer
LINUX:
------
Start at Step 3.
Your license (default) dir is /var/flexlm
so copy the generated aw.dat (you did that on a windows machine in dos)
into that directory.
OSX:
---
Your license (default) dir is /var/flexlm
so copy the generated aw.dat (you did that on a windows machine in dos)
into that directory.
I try to folow it as best as i can. The instructions for mac, are kinda unclear to me. When I do go to check for an eithernet number with the Maya program it does come up with a number for me to use and I click copy and then try to put it in the aw.dat file using textedit, then I try to pick the file for the licence, but no dice for me:P. I have read over a lot of the forum and looked at the pictures posted and read most everything, but I can't piece it together, parts of it are giberish to me. I'm running an iMac G5 so I figure its powerful enough as well. Anyways, if anyones got the time to explain I would be greatly thankful.

done it with sudo and i had no chance to create flelm dir under var, done it logging in as root and i could create the folder, but still...broken network. Tomorrow i'll retry all of this on tiger and see if with same steps i can get it working there, cause it was working when i had tiger.. so if it doesn't work this time probably i made a mistake somewhere

It's 5:12 AM and I finally got mine working.
My problem was that I couldn't get the right mac address form mac, so what I did was.
I downloaded ionetworkingfamily.kext from one of the first posts on this site, the one the is about 700 kb. I followed the instructions there, replacing the ionetworkinfamily.kext in extensions directory, and fixing all permissions, etc.
That messed up my networking, and ethernet did not show up in system preferences. So i followed the tutorial that I did before this, changing values in ionetworkingfamily.kext to fit my network card.
After restart, the ethernet was back. I used file from post 1 in this topic, which showed me my mac address. I wrote that down, swithced back to windows.
Copied the mac address into the aw.dat file, saved it. Then dragged this file onto the keygen.exe. That gave me some new values in aw.dat.
I switched back to mac. Launched maya, pointed to my license file and everything started working.
SWEET..

neo121, the deal with Maya was that , in a nutshell, flexlm was reading aw.dat wrongly. I confirmed that the script and the solution from page 5 of this post was working fine on leopard 10.5.2, and previously it was also confirmed with 10.5.1.
You have to install Maya2008 on Leopard then to use PC so you can generate your aw.dat based on your mac address. Edit included aw.dat, replace YourHostID with your MAC address and drag'n'drop it onto keymaker. Now you have your aw.dat which you'll have to copy (now in Leopard) into flexlm folder. So no matter you have properly installed license file which was 'properly' :-) generated, maya wasn't working for us until IONFix was applied. Just go to page#5 download IONfix.zip and run the script, reboot your Mac and you'll have your Maya working flawlessly.

After HOURS of doing this, it finally works. I was in the same boat as the a previous poster where even though the license worked, it kept popping up with the registration screen. Finally, the fix was to install everything first as described by Milanca and then create a new AW.DAT file on the PC with the MAC address from your network card, mine was an Aircard. Then put the AW.DAT and keygen in C:\FlexLM folder. Then went to run and typed "C:\FlexLM\awkegen.exe aw.dat" and hit enter. Then I took the new file and placed into /var/flexlm on in Leopard. Finally, ran Maya, got the registration screen, selected my file from /var/flexlm and it accepted. Had to relaunch Maya, but now working like a champ!

I find all of this amazing, everyone is struggling and no one is seeing the obvious solutions.
THE OBVIOUS:
- you're using pc_efi v6 or better (v8 was last version I believe).
- you have working ethernet.
- your hardware is not recognized as built-in.
- the guys who modified gfxutil didn't think to generate a binary that runs in 10.4 (too complicated I guess) so you can't generate a device-property string and couldn't figure out to ask them to recompile it.
- you don't know that a device-property string will resolve your built-in problem and removes the need to modify any kexts.
- you don't know anyone with your board running Leo who can generate a device-property string for the ethernet.
- you don't know that you can add the device-property string to your com.apple.Boot.plist file.
- you don't know that a single click Mac application exists to generate a key for every version of Maya in existence.
- you don't know that the generated license file from this Mac application will allow the different versions of Maya to run simultaneously on the same machine.
- you use the windows keygen.exe and mess with files to make the license file.
- nobody thought to specifically ask me anything.

I get through all installation.... when maya loads the licensing utitlity it all works... ethernet address fine... but maya doesnt load.... and everytime i load it the licensing utility comes up again. So it seems like the aw.dat file is working but its not remembering that it is. I downloaded an IOnetworkingfamily.kext file that was older than my own but that had no luck... and now i cant the original file that i had working again... getting error messages when the machine loads... will my os install discs fix that?

You installed MAYA, did you install a valid license file, if you did then the license utility wouldn't keep loading and, you cannot use a license file from another computer since it is coded against the built-in ethernet, run the
Autodesk Product Configuration Wizard and click on the
Show OPA Hardware Identifier on this computer. and see if it lists any, if it doesn't then that would be something that needs to be fixed first.
You can resolve this by providing the output of "gfxutil -f ethernet" (you can google this utility to find it if you don't already have it).
