You are blaming MS because the computer you bought have Windows pre-installed. C'mon get real. If you don't want MS products get a computer without any OS pre-installed and install Linux problem solved.
I built my computer, therfore no Windows preinstalled. I run Linux/Windows/OSX on various machines in my house.
My statement there was meant as a sarcastic one to blame M$ for all the worlds problems, I'm sorry I didn't lay it on thick enough for you.

it is possible that it might happen though... apple was purely a hardware company when it was making powerpc chips but now that they have turned intel they aren't much different from pc's so the hardware side of it isn't going to be why people buy the macs anymore, i think that there won't be much different about the 2 besides the operating system and that's when apple will turn into a software company.
I don't think Apple has ever made chips, Apple was, and still is, a hardware distributor, just as Dell is, both of whom seem to be going more into the marketing business more than anything else, Apple just happens to have it's own OS. They never made the hardware, PPCs were and are still made by Motorola, the mobos, RAM, HDD... are all made by thier respective manufacturers such as Intel.
i.e. Apple has never been a hardware manufacturer, they were and still are merely a assembly/distributor such as Dell. They just happen to have thier own, far superior OS, which they can tailor to the hardware, and vice versa.
