Does anyone know how to tell if this is working. If i go into the system profiler and click Power the settings for Dynamic power step and Reduce processor speed are set to NO? is this the same thing or for PPC chips only.

The reason why i ask is that my battery life is signifcantly reduced compared to windows.

I'd say that the power management and speedstep aren't really working yet.

speedstep is a hardware thing. if the running software takes control of the acpi subsystem then it can be controlled by software. if it isnt software controlled then the acpi subsystem does what it's programmed to do.

that said, if you take your laptop off ac power while listening to itunes, you'll probably hear speedstep in action. it causes a clock change and my music tends to play at half speed unsure.gif

Ive tried finding a utility to verify the proc was speed stepping but none will work. Anyone know of anything?
