I got OSX native running on my pc. But its very slow, and i can only run at 1024x768 (not the 1280x1024 that i want ) Another weird thing is that it shows that i have 2gb of ramm, i acturly have just 2x 512mb (1gb). My specs:

AMD Athlon64 3200+ Venice
2x 512mb PC3200 (Dane-elec)
Asus A8N-SLI mobo
ATI X800XL PCI-E graphics card
An old intel pro 10/100 network card (works perfect ;-) )
Creative soundblaster live 5.1 (not working)
i run OSX of a 20gb IDE harddisk (not using the other serial ata disks now)

The bootup worked perfect, but when i'm typing now there is a major latency between me typing stuff and apering on the screen ;-) Does anyone knows how to solve this? I used the premade vmware package to install OSX (from the xbox 360 site tutorial) my cpu supports SSE3 btw

Yeah, same thing here on AMD64 ASUS A8V.
It's the kernel_task process (PID 0) that takes 99% of the CPU.
(You can see it if you run the command 'top' in the terminal).
I will try different BIOS setting now and will report back if I succeed.

Oh it's a crappy Radeon 7500 (but good enough for 2D and Quake).

I am going to guess that OSx86 has problems with your chipset.

Well...I'm currently running on a Pentium 4 1.8ghz SSE2, 512MB of SDRAM and am having no problems whatsoever. Seems to run fine....really smooth, so I suspect it may be something to do with your AMD processors/chipsets perhaps. I have an Intel 815g Which I believe is being recognized as an 830.

It is definitely a BIOS settings thing.
I loaded my BIOS default values and then tweaked the settings
(mostly switching things off that I don't use like Firewire).
I then rebooted and BINGO I'm now running with full speed.
So everyone hitting this problem (kernel_task eating 100% CPU):
Play with your BIOS settings...

Have you tried taking out the SBLive and using onboard sound? I have the same board and my new HDD for OSX arrives on Monday.

It's slow because the AppleTPMACPI kernel extension is loading. That causes the kernel to eat up CPU while that KEXT tries to connect to the (nonexistent) hardware.

Remove /System/Library/Extensions/AppleTPMACPI.kext, or move it to somewhere else on your drive.

If that doesn't fix it, also delete the /System/Library/Extensions.mkext file, as well.

what bios settings do i mess with...i just downloaded the version that was on the torrents. I have an AMD 4000+, asus a8v mobo, 2gb corsair xms pro, radeon x800 pro (AGP).

It is working fine, but just my simeter is saying 100% cpu.

(Running in VMWare btw)

Its working a littebit better now (dunno how that happend But stil slow, its like a G3 ibook now. It works but still not speedy )

Does anybody know why things like Itunes and Adiumx aint working? i have a SSE3 capable cpu (Venice core) And i'm using the install from the 1.28gb vmware bla bla torrent

Itunes and AdiumX are not working on your system since you're using the VMWare Image by deadmoo which happens to be patched not to use SSE3. By Installing it yourself or maybe overriding the patched rosetta file with the one from the Dev DVD you might be able to get it working. Can't tell you much more since I got no sse3 cpu\nor osx86 working yet.

I have the image of the orginal install DVD, but i have no clue what files i need to restore... any help would be great

I tried to remove /System/Library/Extensions/AppleTPMACPI.kext file. but it appears its a directory and i can't remove it. i tried rm -r and i got bunch of permissions denied.

How can i remove those files?

If you want to remove it permanently, input below.

cd /System/Library/Extensions/
sudo rm -rf AppleTPMACPI.kext
(Your password will required.)

Or, just to make sure, move it to other directory.

cd /System/Library/Extensions/
sudo mkdir ../Extensions_disabled/
sudo mv AppleTPMACPI.kext ../Extensions_disabled/

Figured it out

This problem has been fully solved already. While the methods listed above work, this is a better way that does not involve deleting anything.:

1) open up terminal
2) cd /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/
3) sudo nano com.apple.Boot.plist
4) edit boot options in xml file, Look for the string

...
<key>Kernel Flags</key>
<string>platform=X86PC "Graphics Mode"="1280x1024x32"</string>
...

The red text is what you have to add to make OSX go at normal speeds, the green text is optional and it will set the resolution whatever values you input. For more information on that, hit a key during OSX boot and type "?" .

You know, I tried all of this, and none seem to really work for me. I'm running in vmware and I have SSE3 and lots of ram. I followed the instructions on www.xplodenet.com

Is it supposed to run slow in vmware, or is running in vmware (with generous ram and no sound/net etc.) about as fast as natively?

I had it running on VMware on a machine with 1.24gigs of ram and it was slugish, but then i installed it natively on a machine with only a gig of ram and it is much faster.......

I had the same problem, and was able to solve it by disabling all of the unneccessary hardware in the BIOS (firewire, extra NIC, serial port, parallel port, sound). Try disabling everything that isn't absolutely critical, and then slowly switch each one back on inbetween reboots.

i score under 10 on the xbench cpu test.. everything else is in the 30-50 range.. i dont understand it... ive removed the file.. cpu usage is at 0.. i cant boot into x86os mode with the nforce3 chipset...

it still shouldent be this slow in ACPI mode..

Hi, i copy the image to a 16gb external hard drive and boot from it. when i boot from my pc it locks up on the apple logo and the message saying i have to reboot comes up. this happens everytime i load up. when i boot on my laptop the apple logo comes up and the revolving circle which shows its loading up just spins and this just happens until i turn it off manually. this also happens in safe mode. what should i do.
