Here's my question- has anyone using Logic Pro 7 tried using the node functionality yet?

If so does it work? If not why not? I know it requires gigabit ethernet but that's about all I know-

I have a G4 powerbook 17" running Logic 6.3 but my plan is to build my Mactel box, eBay the G4 and get the Macbook 15" - then upgrade to Logic Pro 7 to run the node off the Mactel box.

Any audio/tech geniuses care to comment?

Yeah, Logic nodes work REALLY well - the node system allows you to use each node's audio engine and disk I/O across ethernet (hence it needing gigabit).

I take it you're wanting to use a legit version of logic on both systems, as if you use the crack, you might get some system instability. I've heard reports of people getting it to work great and people who can't get it to work at all so i have a feeling it depends on your hardware.

Hope it works for you if you do try it, and if it doesnt post up a description of the problems in the Pro Apps subforum and someone should be able to help you out

Hey thanks JD- that's great news.

I'll be using a legit version of Logic with dongle so at least I'll be able to rule out crack instability as a problem from the git go.

I should have the box built in about 3 weeks but in the meantime if anyone has it running successfully (or not) I'd be interested to hear everyone's (anyone's?) experiences- specifically what their system components are.

I'll post my results when I get everything going.

PS the board I plan to use is the Intel D945GNTLKR ATX LGA775 I945G with a Intel Pentium D 930 3GHZ LGA775 2X2MB 800FSB Processor (same as Bofor's box).

It works for sure.I run 2 Hackintoshs as Nodes here with a G4 Dual as Master. ..BUT only if u modify the Node App so it doesnt check your System/Hardware. In order IMac, MacBook etc. On Mac you need to have at least some G4 Model to get Node running..Gigabit Network is a must.

Ahh dont get me wrong ..of course u can use also a Hackintosh as a Master for Logic 7.2. I said G4 Model ..cause that was the Case with the older Node before the Intel switch. A Tip for Hacking i cant give you.
U need a good Disassemble of the File(Node App) or try find the Offset with GDB.

Thread is a bit stale but just wanted to report that I've got my hackintosh working as a node (intel GNTLKR MOBO) with my Powerbook 17" (PPC). haven't seen any problems so far. No hacking of drivers was nescessary.
