I just found a Dlink DWL-G520 wireless PCI card for about $30 at the local Tiger Direct outlet store. The store is in Orland Park, IL next to the Orland Square Mall. These were white-box items, marked as refurbs, and they had quite a few of them.

The HW version of this card is B3, but it works just fine. Recognised as airport on my 10.4.5 system with no patching, editing, or driver installs.
