u will need iDeneb v1.3 10.5.5, kalyway 10.5.2
recommend trying this on a spare drive!!!
sata devices only! no IDE!
bios settings (same as kalyway, press del (forward delete on apple keyboard) at asus splash screen)
under 'main' set sata config to AHCI
under 'advanced' set jmicron controller mode to AHCI
under 'pci pnp' set plug and play to yes
under 'power' set 'suspend mode' to s3 only
boot to iDeneb 10.5.5
run disk utility and partition drive (make sure it's guid-options button-and mac osx extended journaled)
customise the install, check only these packages
languagetranslations (as needed/desired)
additionalfonts
x11user
iDeneb_patches_10.5.5-Audio-ADI1988.pkg
(this will give 2 channel audio, i don't know if it will give 5.1. you can try it or leave it out and install taruga1988 later)
iDeneb_patches_10.5.5-chipset-ichxfixed
iDeneb_patches_10.5.5-network-ethernet-skge
iDeneb_patches_10.5.5-Fix-applesmbios-smbios800/1066/1333 (whatever speed your ram is, or all three)
iDeneb_patches_10.5.5-Video-nvidia-nvinject-nvinject0.2.1_512mb.pkg
applications-(you will need pacifist if it is not on your backup, otherwise, as desired)
do not check any kernel, vanilla will be installed by default
install os and shutdown
attach your time machine backup drive, boot, and during setup transfer everything
your hackintosh may hang at the end of time machine transfer, at 99% or 100%
if it hangs WAIT and make sure disk activity has ended
hit command-q to quit
dialog will be either "are you sure you want to quit" or "do you want to shut down"
hit "yes"
if it shuts down, disconnect time machine and startup, it should startup normally and your user(s) should be there
you might be missing either network settings or some application support files, some applications may have to be reinstalled
if it does not shut down everything should be there
insert kalyway10.5.2 dvd or mount disk image
run pacifist, and select "open apple install discs"
using pacifist install the following 2 packages:
patches-timemachinefix_ionetworkingfamily.pkg
networldrivers-wificards-wifi_AP_realtek_RTL8187l_wifiaprealtek8187L.pkg
if you didn't install audio already, install Taruga_AD1988b_rev3 audio driver for full audio
if you have some older PPC apps you may get a carbonlib error
install CatbonLibFIX.pkg (note spelling) to fix
use software update and install all updates (except 10.5.6, 10.5.7 etc if out)
repair permissions and restart
getting time machine to work- format backup drive to guid/osx extended journaled and give it a different name than the previous one
go to system prefs/time machine
you may have to select/deselect/mount/unmount drive a couple times to get it started
wait for backup to finish
U R DONE
all hardware works, every app i've tried works, video stable for 3d gaming (unlike 10.5.2)
bugs: taruga audio: might buzz during boot; will stop after boot or after playing any sound
