I got my legal copy of Final Cut to install on a little Hackintosh, seemingly wo problems, but I can't get the updates to install:
details
mobo: ECS945GCT-M v. 1
video: gigabyte nvidia 7300GS, 256MB
hd: SATA partitioned as GUID
install: Leo4All v. 3
vanilla kernal 9.2.2
Intel Chip Drivers
Nvinject 256
Anyway, after I got Final Cut installed, i tried hooking the thing up to the net via ethernet.et, and updating via Software Update. It connected to Apple and DLed a bunch of stuff and the installers ran , (I did not attempt to update the OS though). After this, Final Cut still repoted as version 6.01 in Get Info, it hadn';t been updated. So I started again fromscratch, reinstalled Leo$All and the FC Studio Apps. Then i went to Apple support and since i haver a proper serial number and all, I was able to download the stand-alone softweare updaters, e.g "ProApplications Update 2008-02' . However, when i try to run these, when the installer gets to the point where you have to select the disk on which to install, it has a red warning explanation on the smain HD, and clicking it yields an error message that installation of the upgrade 'requires MacOS version 10.5.3' . i know this is not true, since I have Final Cut Studio 2 with this upgrade running on a powerbook under 10.4.11. After some fiddling, it seems that the error message is simply reading the current installed system , and adding one version as the reported requirement (if i get it to 10.5.3, it says 10.5.4 is required)
So I'm just wondering if anyone has a similar problem, and has found a solution or workaround, Or if anyone with similar hardware can report on a leopard install method that supports Final Cut and allows for updates to work. (Please just don't tell me what install DVD you used, but what settings you chose for partition table, kernal, other necessary kexts etc.).)
