I am trying to decipher amonst all the information availalbe what the best desktop to buy at Bestbuy. I have aprroxmiately $2000 that I can spend on store credit from a refund on a warranty plan(they lost my laptop when sent in for repair).
I am fairly proficient with computer repairs but most of the computers at Bestbuy do not list what the motherboards are and the product list on the
http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page is limited. Anyone have any luck out there with a recent purchase. My intention is to run a dual boot computer with Windows and Leopard. I do not play games however I do design in Photoshop and Dreamweaver.

I wouldn't take a chance on a random desktop PC from Best Buy being either Mac compatible or an especially good deal.
You could just take the $2,000 and buy a real Mac from Best Buy. (iMac, Mini, or MacBook with external monitor)- they'll all run Windows too.
If you really want a PC desktop to convert to Hackintosh, then buy a MacBook from BB, don't even take it out of the box so it's brand new, sell it on ebay/craigslist for as much as you can get, take the money, and buy the parts for a Hackintosh (using a mobo that's known to work and that has a good guide- there are lots of build lists around here) and the OSX retail DVD.
Bottom line- you have a lot of better options with 2k than blowing it on the chance that some random PC will make a decent Hackintosh.

yeah, I agree with zapp. buy a mac and sell it unopened -==> hence, cash instead of refund credit. if you know how to build computers it's best to build it yourself. half the cost and you can choose parts that will work for sure.
and if you don't play games and want photoshop and dreamweaver, I recommend vmware fusion. virtual machine runs those two perfectly. (CS3 tested)
much easier to manage than dual booting.
