I have a 8400M GS 128MB in my HP DV9500, and I modified the NVinject.kext which gave me dual monitor support with max res, and QE/CI. These are all working on 10.5.4.
I didn't install any drivers during install, and this is the only .kext I have added to get my results. Try it for your card, I can't guarantee anything though.

Oh Mein God, thank, thank you so much for that!
I have been scouring the internet for this!
I have a Dell Vostro 1510 running on 10.5.4 using Chameleon DFE.
This got the bastard 256MB Nvidia 8400m GS to work! qe/ci supported!
