Full Version: 8400m GS 128mb - no QE+CI on 10.5.5

Hi there,

I have a 8400m GS graphics card, I have tried various methods to get QE + CI, but none have worked.

I don't really want to downgrade my Apple Graphics Kexts(think I have 9f33), so if there's another solution, that would be great.

Any ideas?

Okay, that's a different card.

Efi Studio doesn't seem to have 8400m.

Thanks for your replys!

I've already given macgirls NVinject.kext a go, doesn't seem to work for me sad.gif

Do I need to edit any of the origional mac kexts? NVDANV50Hal.kext etc? Put my device ID's in it or anything?

I've simply just added the NVinject.kext to my Extensions folder, my card is detected etc. Just no QE+CI support.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Chris

Hi again,

have you repaired the premissions? In which notebook do you have the 8400m gs? In case of this nvinject and a XPS m1330 you dont need to edit any kext.
chrisdarl
I have a HP dv6599ea

8400m GS 128mb

A while ago, I used a guide from macgirl, that got my QE+CI working, but not since I've reinstalled and upgraded to 10.5.5.

By the way, I am booting using BOOT-123 from a USB key (the installation is on a GUID Hard Drive - but using the USB to boot until I have all the patches done).

Thanks for your help smile.gif

I've found your tutorial for this notebook. Maybe there is still another injector like nvkush installed which is in conflict with nvinject from macgirl or your com.apple.Boot.plist contain a gfx string. Try to remove it and check again.
What for a rom version can you see in your videocard section from systemprofiler?
chrisdarl
Nope, no other injectors.

I've a pretty much empty Boot.plist too, no EFI strings anyway.

Any other ideas? sad.gif

Thanks again, blueray! Much appreciated.

Maybe you have a kext in you boot 132 Extensions.mkext which make it unworkable? Has the macgirls modified nvinject ever worked for you?
leokeren
or instal driver vga with osx86tools, if efi studio doesn't have
Insanor
Try this .kext, I don't know if it works in 10.5.5, but I had a similar problem to you on 10.5.4. I had to modify another string in the info.plist to enable QE/CI.
