Hello, first i would like to thank's everyone around this forums. It has helped me a lot and i was able to make a working installation os os x on my computer with your help.

Still there is one problem witch i can't seem able to fix . I have searched google and the forums and couldn't find a solution. Before i start let me say that i don't have sleep mode enabled on my hackintosh, exept for the monitor.
Whenever I load a cd\dvd and leave it on the tray for more than 30 minutes (mounted) , i am unable to eject the media. It's like if the drive enters a sleep mode or something. If no cd is in the tray everything works fine, or if i remove the cd\dvd after copying files, or watching a dvd, it ejects properly but if it is left in the drive, after a while it locks the drive. Then i will have to force shutdown of the computer so it restarts and I can access the dvd drive again, (it disables the normal shutdown procedure of the system). Otherwise everything works fine, except the shutdown, and being unable to access the drive.

Is there a fix for this problem? I am using an IDE dvd burner, the brand is LG. Burning cd's\dvd's works perfect too.

Thanks people. wink.gif

I have been having the same problem for awhile now. At first, I assumed it was due to an IDE to SATA adapter I was using with the drive or maybe something with the drive itself. I recently build a new computer and purchased SATA drives in hope that wouldn't happen again, but they both have the same problem.

The drives all work normally unless you leave a disc in the drive for a period of time without using it. Then it locks the drive somehow. Every program I try to use to eject the disc becomes unresponsive (including Disk Utility and Toast). This also prevents the system from shutting down. I must completely turn the comptuer off and restart it before the drives are available again. Simply pressing the reset button will not work.

I have searched the forums and it seems there are several people with this same issue. Someone said it doesn't happen if you turn off the option "Put the hard disk(s) to sleep when possible" in System Preferences, but it doesn't seem to work for everyone.

Anyone else have a possible solution for this problem?
