So my boss has been asking me to upgrade his HDs in his old G5. I got up to his studio today (it's an hours drive away) and put the SATA card in (an ACCARD I think it was, it was one of the better reviewed models that support Macs) and tried booting it. Machine booted up perfectly fine, no questions asked, but the displays would not show anything. If I turned them off and on again, they just flashed their dialog screen and went back to sleep. I have tried pulling the card I put in, unplugging everything that I added, the only thing I haven't done is plugged the Superdrive back in, merely because I feel it shouldn't make a difference. So, anyone have any bright ideas. The only time I have to work on this is tomorrow morning at like 10:00 AM (CST).

The Acard AEC-6290M is not compatible with dual core G5 systems and the newer systems that use DDR2 memory.
Try re-setting the mainboard after you remove the card.
Hindsight being 20-20 the Sonnet Tempo would have been the better choice even if more expensive.

Actually, it's not a dual-core G5. It's a dual-processor, but not core. I remember spending a couple of hours checking that just to make sure. That being said, I'm trying to reset the SMU right now.
EDIT: So resetting the SMU didn't work. It's definitely not a dual-core though because the dual-cores were the switch to PCI-e as well, weren't they? And they were the switch to DDR2, which this thing doesn't have. I mean, unless I'm totally mistaken here, this card should be fully functional in the system. Anyone else have any ideas?
