Hi folks,

I'd just like to share with you a successful install of iDeneb v1.3 (OS X 10.5.5).

It was painful.... about 10 tries... many crashes... many night spent but huge satisfaction at the end.

Here is my config :

ASUS P4P800-E
P4 3GHz Prescott with Hyperthreading
AC97 onboard sound processor
ATI Radeon 9250 Video
Promise Fastrak 378 RAID
2 x 250 Gb HD
Marvell Giga ethernet

Successfull install process :

iDeneb v1.3 DVD -> ok recognized video but not RAID config, therefore I choosed to install OS X on an external USB Hard drive.

I customized the install as follows :

- AC97 sound
- Intel controller (ICHxxx one)
- skgext for Marvell ethernet
- 9.4.2 modified kernel (i got crashes with default vanilla kernel).

With these parameters I've been able to run OSX, play sounds, surf the web and get basic video display (1024 x 768).

Post install issues :

- I installed beta Radeon9250.kext which eventually conflicted with ethernet connection (was always getting 169.xxx.x.x Ip address) => I definitely let this driver down and had to reinstall OS X again to get network back

- To get higher video res, I installed callisto 0.8 kext, and modified Vendor ID / Device ID with Radeon 9250 value (DID :5940 VID:1002). I also modified in Info.plist the key "CallistoUseAltPLLMethod" from false to true. I now have a nice 10280 x 1080 res.

- Last but not least, make it easier with the PC keyboard... and gain time looking for the @. The easiest solution I found is to install a Logitech control center package which make it possible to choose a Logitech french style keyboard.

I'm currently browsing forums to see if i could make the RAID Fastrak promise work but with little conviction... I may finally get rid of my RAID config and make dual boot with XP

Many thanks to all of you that contributed to this project.

Hackingtosh newbee adage : "after a few installs (rarely less than ten), it may eventually fall into working order".

Cheers !

A successful install here too! Here are the specs:

Intel DG33FB motherboard with Intel® Core™2 Quad CPU Q6600. 4GB Ram.
NVidia 8600GTX with Quartz Extreme enabled at 1650x1080.
All SATA Drives (3 HD, 1 DVD+R/-R Burner).
Used ACL88 series driver for onboard sound.

Installed Clean out of the Box with just the Intel On Board network kext installed. Otherwise a Realtek based PCI network card was added until the kext was installed. This is with the iDeneb 1.3 10.5.5 Intel/Amd distobution.

Has run EVERYTHING so far. I turned off the updates, not sure if those will lock me up. Time machined back up succeeded.

Good job.

Only took 3 installs lol!

Are you sure that you used 9.4.2 kernel and not 4.2.2 one?
