I recently built a hackintosh for a media center with a 7300 GT with 256 mb of video ram. I thought it would be fast enough, but video gets really choppy. Is a 8800 Gt with 512 mb of vram enough to run full screen on a 42" tv (1920x1080). Will a 8800 GT work with kalyway?

a 8800GT with 512mb ram should be able to run flawlessly on two monitors at 1920x1080 simultaneously.

now, the 8800GT has been replaced by the 9800GT, its pretty much the same card, its the same core, just a new model #, and some minor features on the board. i've been told both are easily supported by 10.5.5, and both should be able to get working on previous versions, however i have no experience w the kalyway install

if your going for a media center, you might want to pick a 9800GT that has the SPDIF audio in jack on the card, it allows the card to mix digital audio into HDMI when using the included DVI-HDMI adaptor, allowing proper HDMI out including 5.1 audio
could be $10 more or so, depending on which vendor, theres waaay too many to pick from
