Full Version: External Widescreen Monitor connected it G4 ibook

Since the ibook only puts out vga, and 768x1024 res, the screen gets stretched with the widescreen 22" I connected to it. What is the best way to adjust the res to make things less stretched? Would software on the mac do it, or is there a way to adjust the monitor? It's a Viewsonic 1680x1050 22".

try SwitchResX you can set resolutions for external monitors also...

OK, I've downloaded the control panel version, and started to read the pdf manual.
Do I create a custom resolution that the monitor is rated at (1680x1050)?
Will the vga output then show normally on the external monitor?

When googling the subject of ibook/external widescreen monitor, screen spanning doctor came up a few times. I checked it out and it apparently unlocks the screen spanning feature, and extra resolutions in the ibook. Seems like it is there to download, but dates from 2005, and Tiger. Does anybody know if it would work with Leo?

It worked fine, got full res and screen spanning.
