Listen. I have my good working MBP running 10.5.4 with all my apps i use every day.
I just bought a new Mac Pro and instead of starting all over i just used a 100% clone from my MBP to my new Mac Pro.
The Mac pro runs perfect from what i know. But my question is.

Is that okay to do ? Are they using the same things.
From what i know they both use 10.5.x but different system files, They just load what they need when it boots, yes ?

Or is it not a good idea.

Hope someone have some answers becaouse the Mac Pro runs fine of the MBP clone.

That is correct when a Mac boots it probes to see what hardware is in the machine then loads the drivers for what it finds.

As long as the systems are similar, if too different, unless a retail version of OSX was used in the original install, the OEM install will be lacking some elements for the system moved to. (the retail disk installs everything, the OEM disk is selective)

Or the reason you can't, say, move an install from a notebook/iMac to a Power Mac (or the other way around).

if you used migration assistant it is smart enough to know what to move and what not to move if its not necessary.

I'd certainly try this first!
