i have a P4 2.6Ghz & 1 GB mem and run OSX86 10.4.5 on it. but would like to use the gentoo portage package system.

i jst use these howto..

http://gentoo-wiki.com/FAQ_MacOS
http://gentoo-wiki.com/Gentoo_for_Mac_OS_X
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-ppc.xml

emerge sync was ok, but now i'm trying to install some portage package, but mu make.conf isn't allright..
it use the CHOST="powerpc-apple-darwin" and the ARCH="ppc"
so i wonder why "PPC" and why nog X86.

Can someone help me with it..

thnx.

Well, considering how you're running just a normal PC setup, why aren't you using the standard x86 distro? The mac port will NOT work as it's built for the PPC macs.

Ok, sorry for the confusion. I was thinking that you wanted to install Gentoo on your osx86 setup. As to the issue of using one package system for both OSs, I'm not sure. Hopefully someone else can help you with this.
