Hi there,

I've got an Asus F3Jp. and I'm using iAktos 4.1i updated to 10.5.5. And my Codec is Realtek ALC660-VD.

First of all, I've deleted the AppleAzilla.kext .

The audio drivers I got from this thread works perfectly. The problem is that it works randomly !!!!

Let me explain myself: when I boot my 10.5.5, sometime the drivers are loaded, the audio then works right. And sometimes when I boot, the audio isn't working at all.

So, at each boot the behaviur of the drivers is different. weired, not ?

It's a very annoying situation.

1- In the "About this mac/system profiles/Hardware/Audio" :

- When I use AppleHDA.kext from kabyl it shows:

Device ID: 0x10431339
Audio ID: 12

- When I use ALCinject.kext it shows nothing (ie a blanc panel) Even when the audio works.

2- In the "About this mac/system profiles/Software/Extentions"

- When the sound is not working I see (depending which one is used) either ALCinject.kext or the AppleHDA.kext listed in the extentions panel.
- When the audio is working ok I dont see neither ALCinject.kext nor AppleHDA.kext listed in the extentions.

Off course I dont use ALCinject.kext and AppleHDA.kext at the same time. And AppleAzilla.kext is deleted.

3- My Linux codec dump are telling me this:
Codec: Realtek ALC660-VD
Address: 0
Vendor Id: 0x10ec0660
Subsystem Id: 0x10430000
Why the Subsystem Id is not the same as the Device ID: 0x10431339 when I use AppleHDA.kext ??

All the files Im talking about are attached to this post (including AppleHDA.kext and my Linux Codec dump).

Can you tell me what's wrong ? Can any one have a clue ?

I hope I was clear in my problem description.

I tried but was unable to figure out my codec in Hex Editor. Can anybody help me to patch my AppleHDA so that I can get mic and headphone working, here is my audio hardware info and linux codec dump:

Intel High Definition Audio subsystem using configuration: 6-channel (5.1) audio subsystem (Realtek ALC888 audio codec).

I`m post this some times ago, but NOONE answer to me in another thread:

I follow yours guide, but i can`t enable my Asus P5B AD1988 audio...

I do many tries, but my audio work only with Azalia (only audio out) and no line in.

By yours tutorial, i`m load modified AppleHDA.kext with HDAenabler.kext, but no sound.

the first lines of my Linux code dump is:

I READ UR GUIDE AND TRIED MOD THE INFO.PLST PATCHED APPLEHDA.KEXT STILL GOT NO LUCK TO GET MY SPECIALL CARD WORKING.As a matter of fact after I patched it the Leopard hangs when starting up and won`t log into the system.Wired I tried both change the 880 and 662 to 883 but ends up nothing.I`m not sure what to mod now.Maybe U can give a shot,man.

Ok. Another point of view.

1. I have this guide. I use it - step by step. (without PIN config)

2. After modification, i`m do reboot with AppleHDA.kext and HDAenabler.kext installed, and AppleAzaliaAudio.kext-removed.

3. I have no sound. But have some info from "dmesg" command, and i see AppleHDA.kext-loaded. AppleHDAController.kext-loaded, AppleHDAPlatformDriver.kext - loaded also.

4. After second reboot (without any modifications) i don`t see AppleHDAPlatformDriver.kext - it is not loaded...

Ok, so Almost got it, but the problem is that I only have output via the front headphone jack and it 5.1 surround is still grayed out under multichannel in Audio MIDI setup.... None of the jacks on the back put out any sound!

Still no sound at all, I was able to find the pin numbers using HDAPatcher 1.20 and came up with this:

You've got to change the first Zero (0) to a two (2), as your codec is Address 2
So change 01471C10 to 21471C10...for all of them

If you can, just go to the tutorial section, find the AppleHDA thread and download Cparm's kext at the end, then insert your pin config in the appropriate place (AppleHDAcontroller.kext info.plist file)

this is a 027210ec (dec=283902578) realtek audio- 27d88086 intel bus, also system profiler showing some funny id, 144dca00 (intel hi def)

i added pciprimarymatch to controller (with 27d88086) as well otherwise driver doesnt even bother trying to load...

i edited applehda binary for 026210ec (tried 088510ec as well) to 027210ec

same results...

see the attachments for better details... i may be overlooking something i dunno, someone confirm everything as it should be?

you will see that the codec is at address "0" but same error message... i dont think it is related directly to address (bcoz it says interrupt IRQ related but i may be wrong...

any idea thanx?

I have got sound coming out of my headphone jack now thanks to this, but I am still having problems getting everything right. I was wondering if someone could help me figure out what I am doing wrong. I will include the linux dump, and a copy of the Vista Reg that you said to use. Also I am including a copy of the current state of the applehda.kext file if it helps. Hopefully someone can help me figure this out?

Hi all !!!

I'm back with some issues...

I try to make a new ACL660/ACL660vd kext from the 1.5.7 Apple kext (instead of current 1.2.9/1.3.3).

After a lot of efforts, i've succeed in make it shutdown, but i don't understand new pathmaps method...

If someone with some minutes can help, here are all the files...

Pb:No headphone, no mic and it seems int mic are inversed (names too)...

PinConfig comes from a linux codec dump, HDAbin is patched, layouts are the only problem...

I appreciate the efforts you guys are putting in this...please keep up the good work!

Reading this thread I think I have learned a lot, thanks for that!
Though, at this point in time I think I need little help! After following this thread all the way from the post #1 I think I did all needed to make my new AppleHDA.kext for ALC662 in ECS G31T-M mobo work. Well kext does not even load on my machine running 10.5.5.
Please if somebody has few minutres spare take a look and try to tell me what I did worng. I will include both my dump and kext made here.

In short here is what I did: Patched AppleHDA with HexEd using proper flipped hex; Added ID's and sorted inupts/outputs in controller and platform plists and saved them with proper names to proper places. (Used patcher to get pin numbers form mu dump.) Installed HDAenabler and new kext using kexthelper. (Again this is just rough in short!) What I did not do is PinConfigDefault strings did left it <> ; but from what I could understand kext should load without it?!

Hi,
I'm afraid this doesn't work anymore for the latest 1.6.2a37 kext? I tried several times, compared with the previous one - kexts get loaded but no audio devices

So we have to stick to the 10.5.5 driver until someone figures out what's different again in 10.5.6.

hey cparm have you tryied using 10.5.6 kexts yet?

I hex edited AppleHDA.kext/Contents/MacOS/AppleHDA and replaced ALC 262 for ALC 888, added the pinconfig strings in Controler.plist and then I haven't edited the PlatformDriver.plist because I have no clue how to do it or if is always needed even if I have HDAEnabler, by the way what's the use for HDAEnabler? is still needed?

Now I don't even have the speaker icon at the top bar, so my question is what should I be doing wrong?

Hey all, first let me say i am a complete noob!

Next let me say how much I appreciate all the work everyone has done Especially Madtux, all the hours of work don't go unnoticed!

I have the Acer Aspire One with the alc 268 chipset. I have tried all the previous kext. I currently have sound with switching etc and am very grateful for it (using macsticks kext). However, the internal mic shows no volume control and it is so low that it does not capture any audio! I have tried other kexts that are supposed to have fixed this issue but to no avail. :-(

I have attached a copy of my codec dump, I am really hoping someone can help me finish the final details!!!

OK I have made a lot of progress but I can't seem to tackle a problem I have with the alc268 microphone, and i was hoping you could help me out! I have the Acer Aspire One, with the ALC268 chipset I have read your tutorial and done all the steps and I have SOUND working!!! I even managed to get the Mic to show up, Unfortunatly I cannot get the mic to show a volume control!! also the mic volume is EXTREMLY low to the point that it is barely even listenable!!,

I will do anything to get this working!

The system extension "/System/Library/Extensions/nameofextensionhere.kext/Contents/Plugins/HDAEnabler.kext" was installed improperly and cannot be used. Please try reinstalling it or contact the product's vendor for an update.

How can I fix this problem?

I got my ALC883 work with ICH7. But from system log it shows something wrong as below:
