Hi

I have a low end laptop and this no have a internal bluetooth, and connect an adapter
bluetooth everyday is not good idea ...

The device manager says 10 ports usb and only four are for the normal user and another six are in the chipset (intel design page), the laptop Acer 4720 is the same 4320 but with two extra devices; CCD Camera and Bluetooth then the idea is find the internal usb points or connector where is originally connected those devices.

Tools list:

1.- Driverscrew (cross type)
2.- Solder gun & solder past
3.- Some wires
4.- USB female conector
5.- Multimeter
6.- Service Manual http://www.google.com.mx/search?hl=es&...uscar&meta=
7.- A good camera ? or if no have a money then take your pictures with a Celular phone, in this guide a old Treo 650 was used.

Steps:

1.- Disassembly the laptop, how ? see the Service manual for details ...
2.- In the page 91 from service manual is the motherboard showing the jumper and connector locations:

I used the CN6 Connector, only that the 5V USB signal is not prensent here, then i decided solder two wires from original port (bluetooth only take about 50mA, a USB Standard port give 500mA)

The bluetooth works fine in both operating systems (Win XP and Leopard).

I'm too lazy to make this step. Anyway, Acer is crap and I learned to pay some extra bucks for getting better quality and didn't get {censored} overheat each time I'm in windows for 25 mins. But thanks alot for sharing your knowledge.. And btw, I used to be a hardware tech for IBM so I'm pretty advance in laptop hardware wink.gif

izernet: the Acer Aspire 4320 and 4720 basically are same, only one diference is the processor, then is possible make this mod in a Acer 4720 too.

Hi, I know this is not a recent topic, anyway. I just bought and Acer Aspire 4320. I thought it came with an infrared, but I think that has the same story as the bluetooth.

Do you know about that?
quinielascom
No, is diferent, the Infrared Receiver is only design for use with propietary (Acer) remote control, anyway this no work in mac os x because still no drivers available.

Another thing you can get a cheap remote control for your laptop using a old XBOX (1) IR Receiver, only need change the type of connector in the receptor, configure in mac with ControllerMate or similar and voala you will have an 100% compatible working remote control.

The idea yes, schematics, pictures or the service manual not.
