i just bought an eeepc 1000h for 429euro. after doin a biosflash (for the right acpi table) (check http://osrom.net/biosmod/), installing ideneb v1.1, adding the kextpackage from MaDaCo (respect mang! - http://www.maceee.com/wp-content/uploads/2...compatches.zip) and installing the RALINK driver (http://www.ralinktech.com.tw/data/drivers/Ralink_CardBusPCI_D2860-1.0.1.0_D61-1.0.4.0_D2560-1.0.9.0%20UI-1.5.1.0_2008_03_13.dmg):

... i got everything working except sound. i searched google and the forums for hours but cant find a solution. as the ALC269 is build into many new nettops, i guess you guys out there do want that driver as much as i do. taruga disappeared from scene - so i need guys like diego or maybe YOU to get this working. at the moment i cant provide a linux codec dump cause i dont have a usb-dvd anymore. maybe we should start with that. please post this dump someone so that other guys can compare it with 268 (which is working) or other 269-similar structures. would be damn nice to get it working fully.

lets get to work what i can do? nothing just testing it hardcore and give directly chat responses

Here's the codec dump for the ALC269. It was posted on Taruga's wiki. It's currently unsupported with the patch utility.

thank you - yeah i remebered that i seen it somewhere. but tarugas page is often down so any of the "audiodriverguys": is this codec similar to any other ALC so there could be a modified kext or sth? or does the subsystem do the rest of the pain? i hope this chip will get runnin soon - there are many nettop users waiting for it. im willing to donate - what about you guys?

i just installed the latest azalia kext and the system configuration/sound says : HD Audio Output. but it wont work. would be nice to get at least speakers working in the netbooks. kext in attachment.

I've never heard of regedit (the problem with only using OSX and linux), I've been looking for these numbers.
I'm slowly making my way through

and it explains (I think) how to hook the config data up to get the codec working. When you look at HDAController.kext the apple configdata is in the same format.
What would be really helpful would be if someone could check on a macbook/macbook pro to see if the configdata in the HDAController.kext matches the regedit data in windows - it should.

Are you running Vista (you don't seem to be using the HdAudio.sys driver)?

@miglo: i know - the alc269 may get the widest sprad mobile chip ever. so we need to get this to run ...

tested on 1000h and it didnt work period, tried to remove appleac97 kext to see if that helped but it didnt. Did I need that kext.

@jokerchris: i have the same in my profiler. but in my system controlls i have "hd audio output" and the line is working tight. even after restarts. check my loaded kexts and install the 2 kexts i have in atttachment some posts earlier ... this should work. i got an usual eeepc 1000h with alc 269.

Here are my loaded kexts... Its pretty much the same like you have.
The only thing that is different is the Adress of for example AzaliaAudio... Is this important?

i also installed the hdaenabler and the azalia audio package again but it does not function...

do you have audio through the speakers or only through the headphones??

Weird behaviour on my end. I was playing around with loading HDA kexts and then read on one of the forums about a chip that goes on/off with plugging and unplugging AC si loaded up azalia to try this and sound worked on boot then when i put the eeepc to sleep, sound gone and speaker icon gone. Now i cannot get sound back. Not sure what brought it back in first place.
Comatron, does your audio survive sleep?

I know its unrelated but on my Dell M1330, I need to put the machine to sleep first to get the sound to work!

yeah it survived sleep i guess ... cant test cause atm i am testing different hda kext in cooperation with some developing guy in here ... i hope we can provide you a driver the next weeks ....

you already helped us and the alc269 community a lot. I think you and the other guys who helped with infos and hacks arent pretty far away from a working driver...

I enven tried to toy around with SoundSource but to no avail...

I am on iDeneb 1.1 (10.5.4).
Updating (not installing iDeneb 1.3) to 10.5.5 and trying again.
Comatron, could it be that you are on 10.5.5 an that it works because of that (what Distro are you using?),
my kexts (dump of kextstats) does not correspond at all to your versions (see below).

kinda crazy. i am on ideneb 1.1 too without updating anything. the only thing i did is installing the maceee-packages (read first post) and after that different testing AppleHDA.kexts from a developer (cant tell name cause i guess this guy is busy enough with me lol) in here and then put in the HDAenabler.kext and the AzaliaAudio.pkg which then removes the AppleHDA.kext. I will post a screenshot when i am on the eeepc 1000h again so you guys can see that line out works properly ... strange ...

Could it be that I'm on a 901 (should be the same chip thaough)
I'll get my 1000H (hopefully) next week and I'll test again.

here the screenshot of my asus eeepc 1000h with azalia audio working line out. the mess with azalia is, that playing some flash videos in firefox gives me 100% cpu and slows the maschine hardcore. azalia cant be the solution in any way - its old intel/apple testing stuff ...

That is exactly what i have but i dont get any sound out of the headphones...i tried iDeneb 1.3 (10.5.5) but still no luck.

Is it possible that you installed anything else during the development phase?

strangest thing happened to me. I installed the ideneb 1.3 /Leopard 10.5.5/ with all the sound .kexts included with the initial installation. Had some probs though with the "Still waiting for a root device" err when trying to install it from the usb-attached DVD drive. However I installed it by plugging the HDD to my desktop pc. Another fix had to be done, the root device had to be added on boot time, or still the same error "Still waiting.." existed. But let me get to the point. I didn't expected for the sound to work. And at first it didn't. Somehow, I don't know really how, my sound just worked, but until the next reboot. I tried to reinstall the AppleHDA.kext, nothing happened. Still no sound. It appears that works randomly. After a few restarts may be. I have a multi-OS environment /XP,Ubuntu Linux/Leopard/ and it seems when I boot the Ubuntu first, later reboot and go to the Leopard it seems to work, which is strange I think. If you need some more info I can give you more details about the installation and the loaded .kext modules

It's possible that Ubuntu is configuring the chip correctly so that when OS X loads, AppleAzaliaAudio.kext is working. Check that link from 2 posts above (Or Here) and you'll see that AzaliaAudio does work at least in part. If you don't have AppleAzaliaAudio.kext in your Extensions, please let us know what version of AppleHDA.kext you have loaded. ideneb provides multiple audio kexts so knowing which one installed may help.

That's what I thought might be loading. AppleAzaliaAudio does work at least to get sound out of speakers and headphones. No inputs but it's a start! Check out this forum post for instructions to turn the sound on and some scripts to automate the process of turning sound on at boot and when coming out of sleep http://ipis-osx.wikidot.com/forum/t-100527...ternal-speakers . THE ALC269 IS SILENT NO MORE! We're still working on AppleHDA.kext for the ALC269 in hopes of getting everything working but at least we have sound out the speakers for now!

its a temporary solution via azalia drivers + a custom tray app to switch output devices. applehda is still in progress and those guys WILL do it. its the most extensive hda developing since tarugas work. so respect the guys making this all possible.
