Full Version: How to change TTL in packets' headers ?

I'm trying to share my network connection (cable) from my Hackintosh to PS3 but my ISP is changing TTL's to 1.

How can I increase TTL's before routing (NAT)?

BigPimpin
That's one evil ISP. I think you need to do something using /sbin/ipfw, but I've never used it directly. When you go to "System Preferences, Sharing" what you are seeing there is a dumbed down interface for /sbin/ipfw.

Supposedly there are some non-Apple GUI frontends for it that run on OSX. Google should get you started.

I know that it has to do with /sbin/ipfw (or not ??) but google couldn't give me the answer so far... sad.gif

I'll be searching for answer still smile.gif thanks

Hey .... I finally found it on http://www.intrarts.com/software.html
It is on the bottom of the page named modttl.tgz

But i think I need your help ... I'm not a code-guru and can't figure out how to use it ...
BigPimpin
Good work! The only problem is, I don't know how to use it either. I can compile it OK, but it interacts with the IPFW routing tables, and they're something I'm not familiar with on OSX.

How did you determine packets were coming in with TTL set to 1? Did you run a packet sniffer and see it?

I guess we're gonna have to wait until somebody solves this problem... We could then make it sticky in Tutorials (The genius bar)

So ... Does anyone knows how to do it ???

I have no idea how to use this program... I've tried different options but with no success sad.gif
