I really tried all of these atheros-workarounds given in this board. nothing really worked for me (kext replacements and so on). but this works for me: i didn't chose the atheros driver during the installation, but the zydas driver (ONLY the zydas driver - deselect everthing else). atheros has bought zydas - it's the same. the system information lists my card as an usb-card, but aiport doesn't recognise the card. don't worry, as the kalway developers (?) developed a very nice tool, which makes you able to connect to your wireless network with your zydas/atheros card even without using airport.

-> Applications/Utilites/WLan (preinstalled app if you've chosen the zydas driver)

maybe i could help you =)

Is this thing really true? I have a 5007EG card and a Leo4all distro. Mind sharing the kext or installer pack you used? thanx!

of course it is tongue.gif
i just installed the system (kalway 10.5.02) and ticked the zydas driver. i didn't have to modify any system files (like kernel extensions, ...). it ran out of box. i don't know if this will work on other releases.

I really hope you're referring to AR5007EG (never heard of a UG)

I took the zydas kexts and WLAN off of the kalyway install (I couldn't install using the Kalyway disc because it doesn't see the os x partition) and installed them on my JaS 10.5.3 install but it didn't work.

Why on earth would you think that a Zydas wifi driver would make an Atheros wifi card work?

Good luck with your wireless issues.

At this point, I'm willing to try anything within the realm of my technical capabilities. I had c++ in college, but I don't remember enough of it now nor am I familiar enough with the IOKit to port a linux driver. Tossing a few kexts into the extensions folder is a cakewalk in comparison. I should mention that I really didn't expect this to work, but it took me 3 minutes to try, so why not?

This is simply because acquisition do happen on earth...

ZyDAS have been very friendly towards the community in terms of providing a fully open source driver, freely distributable firmware, technical specifications under non-distribution agreement, and answering queries from developers. We hope other vendors will follow their great example, and with the inclusion of a stable in-kernel driver we certainly recommend this hardware as a worthwhile purchase for Linux users.

After being acquired by Atheros, the chipset was renamed to AR5007UG. The original drivers support the new hardware.
