I hope so, so now that I've sold my 8800GT I think I'll go ATI for first time in years.

I wonder if the drivers for the 4870 HD would still work for the 4870 HD X2 even if it only used one of the cores...

That would be pretty great actually, but I can't see the 4870x2 working entirely in OsX with one core, because the chip on the 4870x2 is hardware crossfire, and cannot be disabled with the 4870x2. So Apple together to ATI, would have to work out a solution if they planned on getting the 4870x2 working in the Mac.

As for the 48xx series in Mac, that would make my day.

It's not that bad really. Other than a lack of Quartz Extreme, I have the resolution of choice, and QuartzGL enabled.
