Hello everyone,
first time posting here allthough I have been lurking around for quite a while.

I am currently in the process of wanting to build a new PC (that I will buy in the next month or so) and am currently looking at this barebone PC.

ASUS T Series T3-M2NC51PV
Mainboard
Processor Socket: Socket AM2

Chipset Type: NVIDIA GeForce 6150 / nForce 430

Data Bus Speed: 1000 MHz

Ram
Installed Size: 0 MB / 4 GB (max)

Technology: DDR II SDRAM

Form Factor: DIMM 240-pin

Storage controller
Type: 1 x Serial ATA - integrated, Serial ATA - integrated

Controller Interface Type: Serial ATA-300

RAID Level: RAID 0, RAID 1, JBOD

Channel Qty: 3

Storage controller (2nd)
Type: 1 x IDE - integrated

Controller Interface Type: ATA-133

Channel Qty: 1

Graphics controller
Type: Integrated

Graphics Processor / Vendor: NVIDIA GeForce 6150

Video Memory: Shared Video Memory (UMA)

If you guys could tell me if it would work (in some kind of manner and with fiddling around enough) or if its a useless cause I would very much appreciate it. If I need to also buy special Ram to higher the compatibility, also would like suggestions. If my HD a 200GB SEAGATE ST3200820A Barracuda with 7200RPM also is not the best solution, tell me and I will turn it into an external only hard drive.

Planning to buy:

AMD Athlon X2 4850e with it as CPU and Corsair DIMM 2 GB DDR2-800 Kit (TWIN2X2048-6400) as Ram.

Thanks in Advance!

Dean

PS: If you are wondering, to me OSX86 would be really nice as I like the Design of it and it would work well with my iPhone but if it won't work in a million years I will just use Linux or Windows on it.

PPS: According to the HWCL from 10.5.2 it should work...I think. Please confirm !

If your building from scratch and really want an reliable OS X system why pick a barebones then ask if it works and say your not bothered if it will work! Better to do some research and buy stuff that works.

There are a few boards and other components that work very well, scrutiny of HWCL should help you decide. From personal experience the Asus P5k VM works pretty much OTB and has plenty of future processor upgrade scope, currently I'm running retail install updated to 10.5.4 with 9.4 vanilla kernel everything working spot on. BTW the board is also great for overclocking(got a 2.2 core 2 running @ 3.1ghz. I have no experience with AMD setups, and would prefer anything that runs retail installs (simpler for software upgrades)

The reason I am picking a barebone is for the size, I really don' t want to for a tower again.

Thats why I am saying that if OSX86 works with it I am more then happy, but would survive if not.

Barebone or not, it doesnt matter. the matter is the chipset. look for barebone that has a compatible chipset. the first thing is:
- processor (of course...) biggrin.gif
- ATA/SATA chipset (eq. jmicron)
- audio (realtek alc888, etc.)
- LAN (realtek RTL8111C)
- Wifi (broadcom chipset, etc.)
Korrupted
If you want to avoid headaches in OSx86, do NOT get the nforce chipset or AMD CPUs. It's prone to kernel panics with NVidia graphics cards, and other misc. issues that are annoying to fix. Yeah sure people have it up and running 100% depending on their hardware, but if you're interested in nearly everything working out of the box right away, go with some sort of Intel chipset, like p35, and an Intel CPU.

OMG!! again there is an HCL

For a reasonable priced barebones the new MSI Wind Desktop will be very easy to OSX, there's lots of stuff about the Wind / Advent lappy's with OSX here -

Thanks for all the advices, will look into the alternatives. I definitly need a Barebone though, so will see if I find a good barebone with a Intel chipset.
