I tried all the instructions OP posted. I now have AppleHDA.kext and Alcinjext.kext .

The devices show up. I have Headphones, Internal Speakers, and Digital Out listed under Output Devices and Internal Microphone as an input device.

However, the sound isn't working? If i play a song or any sound in itunes or quicktime, it'll play but there's no audio coming out. Basically, it plays audio but I don't hear anything. Volume settings are all on max. I've tried both laptop speakers and using headphones.

The Microphone input does appear to be working. I didn't test it with any program, but if I go into the Sound Preferences, and talk into the mic, I can see the input level going up and down appropriately.

Anyone experience the same problem I have with sound, or know how to fix it?

OH MY GOD! It's working! Thank you so much! Internal speaker, audio out and microphone are WORKING! Even if you plug headphones when speaker is active, it will automatically switch! Great job, I've been waiting for this for six months!
Well, here's installation manual for those who don't understand:

*NOTE* you can choose between points 2a and 2b, if one doesn't work for you, try the other one!

2b. add *BEFORE* in com.apple.Boot.plist file from /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/

4. reboot! if it doesn't work, try choosing other 2 point. if it still doesn't work, sorry, you must've done something wrong!

anyone gotten this to work on an asus f9s laptop? I have an alc660-vd audio chipset and I can't get it to work with these instructions.

I've been trying to get audio working on my F3SV (X52S) for the past week, with no luck. I've tried the kexts posted by maxoid and AlexIT (as linked in ant's signature), tried some generic installers that people have said have worked with Realtek chips, but I still can't get any sound output out of the speakers. And now I've tried these kexts and Boot.plist entry, but it's not working either

What's the difference between ALC660 and ALC660-vd? Is there a specific notbook that the -vd is found on?

noleafclover, yes, my model's F3Sv. you should make sure you deleted every kext that leads to audio before installing. have you tried HDApatcher with different dumps? have you tried both ALCinject.kexts listed here? First one didn't work for me.
I'm not really sure what's my audio chipset, I know it's PCI code is (0x10ec0660), which is probably _the same_ for ALC660 and ALC660-VD.

I have now installed iaktos v4 same than ROB3RO who have sound.

First step : I delete appleazaliaaudio.kext
2) install with kext helper the twos kexts..

it's a kext file that has been renamed with a ".zip" added to the end of it (not sure why). just remove the .zip file extension so that it's called ALCinject.kext

ASUS F3Sv. You need the AppleHDA.kext and the ALCinject.kext. You should delete AppleAzalia.kext if you have it.

For my notebook I didn't need to modify the Boot.plist, but your notbook may be different, so try both.

The Sound and all other works fine but everytime i change my orignal applehda.kext, i have no shutdown.

So, you have to try other alcinject.kext (always with applehda.kext)

(The EFI string is the HEX Value of ALCinject.kext. So you don't need to install them togheter. Just one. Try only ALCinject.kext without the Efi)

Please give your kext installation (Enablers/audio strings...).

For me, shutdown never worked with any HDA kext, any dump, any enabler, even with a basically AZALIA kext, sometimes it don't shutdown properly... But it works when audio is disabled...

We have to find a solution, another solution than that (that works 60% of time)...

I don't know and i don't have time for developing a kext...so if anyone have an idea...????

No go for me on the G1 either, I've got the sound identified under system prefrences, though not under About this mac oddly. Everything shows up in system preferences, but nothing works there, all silence. Any thoughts? Oh and of course Azalia was deleted and all of that nonsense, kexts installed using kexthelper etc

Edit: Got it recognized in system profiler by using HDAEnabler.kext instead of ALCInject (found on taruga's site, wiki.taruga.net), and now it's reporting

Tried changing the settings in the midi config to the two recommended ones, that had no effect either.

So the same as has been reported, all appears good, but still no sound :/

That key have to be injected in AppleHDAController's plist file, most of us have a ACL268 or ACL880 PinConfig, that make the OS can't shutdown properly the card...

I've got an Asus F3Jp. and I'm using iAktos 4.1i updated to 10.5.5. And my Codec is Realtek ALC660-VD.

First of all, I've deleted the AppleAzilla.kext .

The audio drivers I got from this thread works perfectly. The problem is that it works randomly !!!!

Let me explain myself: when I boot my 10.5.5, sometime the drivers are loaded, the audio then works right. And sometimes when I boot, the audio isn't working at all.

So, at each boot the behaviur of the drivers is different. weired, not ?

It's a very annoying situation.

BTW to help you helping me, I noticed 2 things perhaps interesting:

1- In the "About this mac/system profiles/Hardware/Audio" :

- When I use AppleHDA.kext from kabyl it shows:

Device ID: 0x10431339
Audio ID: 12

- When I use ALCinject.kext it shows nothing (ie a blanc panel) Even when the audio works.

2- In the "About this mac/system profiles/Software/Extentions"

- When the sound is not working I see (depending which one is used) either ALCinject.kext or the AppleHDA.kext listed in the extentions panel.
- When the audio is working ok I dont see neither ALCinject.kext nor AppleHDA.kext listed in the extentions.

Off course I dont use ALCinject.kext and AppleHDA.kext at the same time. And AppleAzilla.kext is deleted.

3- My Linux codec dump are telling me this:
Codec: Realtek ALC660-VD
Address: 0
Vendor Id: 0x10ec0660
Subsystem Id: 0x10430000
Why the Subsystem Id is not the same as the Device ID: 0x10431339 when I use AppleHDA.kext ??

All the files Im talking about are attached to this post (including AppleHDA.kext and my Linux Codec dump).
