AsusZ84JHelp
Since I still haven't gotten wireless USB to work on my Asus Z84J in iATKOS 10.5.1, I would like know how you, if any, have gotten some wireless USB adapter working and being able to browse the Web on iATKOS 10.5.1. If anyone has done so at any time, then or now, I would like to know so I can come up with alternative ways to add Wi-Fi browsing as an option in the event I don't have Ethernet around, since my Ethernet does work. Any help is appreciated, and I thank you for your time.

update: I am now extending my request for any wireless devices that have had success in iATKOS 10.5.1. Along with USB, I would also like to know if anyone successfully browsed the Web with a Mini PCI Express Wi-Fi card. Again, any help is appreciated, and I thank you for your time.

iAtkos, KalyWay, JaS installers should work as long as they don't start mucking with the original extensions and replace them with cruft from 10.4 (this seems to be a bad habit of the clueless looking for a solution) you should have no issues.

I have installed Broadcom wireless cards in this laptop and it worked fine, USB devices, this would be a last resort and it would have to be a device that came with Mac drivers because most new users are not capable of figuring out how to make drivers work without someone holding their hand.

A surprising update to report here: my wireless USB adapter (the SMCWUSBS-N 802.11b/g/n USB adapter) works on iATKOS 10.5.1 after all. It seems that when I installed the correct driver for its supported chipset (the Ralink RT2870 for Mac OS 10.3/4/5), I would get no throughput at all. At that time, I had properly logged into a secure wi-fi hotspot. Recently, though, I installed the driver again, and at a place where I am within range of an unsecured hotspot, when I'm logged into that hotspot (the unsecured one), I can browse! Thus it seems like I can browse wirelessly through unsecure hotspots, but not secured ones even when I'm logged in with the right passwords.
