Beginnings of an Osx86 system.

I bought a G3 case that was really messed up on the inside ( Thanks eBay ). Someone had the smart idea of using the fan screws from the internal fan in the holes for securing the pci cards. Needless to say everything was really messed up. So I found a local guy with a g4 case. I moved the graphite Apple logos to the translucent sides and used those and the G3 handles on the shell of the G4. I think it looks awesome. An AcBel 500 watt power supply is in the mail. I'm hoping the plug lines up with the pre-existing one. I plan on getting:

Gigabyte GA-G31m-S2l mATX board
Intel Core Duo E8400
2gb of DDR2 800 to start
Gigabyte GV-NX86T256H 8600gt video card.
Lite-On DVD RW
Havent decided on what size HD to get.

I'm also planning on ordering some custom extension cables for everything so i can run everything underneath the motherboard. I want to try to hide and much as I can ( the way Apple would have done. lol. )

Once I get more parts i'll take lots of pictures. Take care. Dan

1st Update: Power Supply

So my power supply came a day early. It fits like it was made for this case. The fan and power connector on the back line up perfectly and best of all I could use the original allen head screws to anchor it. The leads on all the cables inside are quite long, except for the 24pin power connector, which is perfect short anyway. After much consideration, my best plan is to shorten all the 4 and 8 pin cables and simply fashioning them with female Molex ends. This way I can make the cables to whatever suits my needs. It'll be more work, but it should cut down on clutter. I plan on buying the motherboard next so i can order the custom extensions and figure out the best way to mount it. Thanks for reading my post. Take care. Dan

Looking good, buddy...

I heard it is really difficult to get a m-atx board in there without chopping off the optical drive bay... Did you check the measurements?

I haven't checked the measurements yet but i was planning to chop the optical bay from the very beginning. Someone on the "G3 Mod" thread has checked out the measurements on the Gigabyte board and is saying that it should work alright once i chop the bay. I plan on getting a Lite-On DVD Rw which i know are way shorter than stock Apple Optical drives. Aloha. Dan
