Synaesthesia
Yeah. The P5Q works with Boot-132. Google it for instructions.

Any other complications?

Do you think it is really worth selling a macbook pro for it?
kitkat54
depends on which mac book pro you have I suppose.

I have a hackintosh based on a Q6600:

Core 2 Quad 2.4GHz Q6600
2GB ram
nVidia 7800GT (256M)
7200RPM SATA drives
connected to a 30" LCD (2560x1600) and a 20" (1600x1200) LCD

I also have a new mac book pro 17":

Core 2 Duo 2.5GHz
4GB ram
nVidia 8600GT (512M)
7200RPM SATA drive
1920x1200 hi res matte display with LED backlight
could be connected to the same 30" (2560x1600) LCD for dual display

For most of what I do, the machines are pretty much identical in terms of user experience. Unless you have a really old macbook pro, or a reason to need 4 cores and a modest graphics boost, I would consider buying just the LCD and using the macbook pro. If I had to choose to keep my hack or the macbook pro, I would keep the macbook pro hands down.

Hackintoshes are nice for the price, but keeping them up to date is a bitch. I actually have a cloned sandbox partition that I do updates on so that I can roll back if things break.

Thanks for the reply Josh. I got the macbook pro (mid 2007 model) 2.2GHz, 120GB, 8600GT 128Mb and 4GB Patriot DDR2

I might just buy an external HD for tiem machine and a monitor what LCD monitor do you suggest I look at
kitkat54
LCDs, it depends on your budget. I've found that, strangely enough, Dell's LCD monitors are very nice. I have a pair of the older Dell 30" displays that are just gorgeous (one at work, and one at home). Work also provides a wide range of Dell LCDs, and I've never seen any of them have issues. While I have not personally used the Samsung displays, I know a few people who have, and they seem happy, so your choice of LCD in your post is not that bad ($217 for a 20" 1680x1050 is not a bad price).

how much did ur macbook pro cost u? it seems powerful! like $3000?
kitkat54
slow at catching Hanif's question, but I got my Macbook Pro with an ADC discount for about $2382 ($2577 after taxes/fees). I upgraded to 4GB ram seperately, so add $100 more. Without ADC it would have been $2968 before adding after market RAM, so yah, $3000 is a good rough guess.

Stay with the MacBook Pro, imho. It's a real, legit mac, you know everything will work, and it should last you a relatively long time. smile.gif
