Last monday Intel released it's new lineup of mobile processors called Centrino 2, which is also code-named Montevina. Their high-end processor is called Core 2
Extreme and is the fastest processor yet and feature a 1,066MHz front side bus and up to 6MB of L2 Cache! They also offer up to 30 percent less power consumption. Rumors are already floating around that these will all most likely be in the next update of Macbooks and Mac mini later this year, but not the MacBook Pro because it uses a discrete graphics processor. There will even be the first mobile
quad-core processor coming later in the year. Other improvements include the ability to run DDR3 memory, a faster 1,066MHz system bus, and 802.11n wireless connectivity from top to bottom. Could you imagine a quad-core Mac mini or Macbook?
