Does anyone know why, on my Powerbook G4, my cursor (trackpad & mouse) is insisting on releasing any html/file path/button description etc when hovering. With adverts this can be a 20 line essay.
It only happens when I'm online and using Safari 3.1.2. Does not happen in Firefox or on my hubbys Powerbook G4 Safari 3.0.4.

Its Very Very Annoying and am open to any suggestions. Have tried deleting plists, and explored the usual pref options.

Is it normal? Should I be worried? Should I just re-install an older version of Safari ?

Thanks In Advance

This is probably a silly question, but, have you tried completely resetting all the Safari caches etc: Safari > Reset Safari > Check all Boxes > Reset? Then tried to disable all the plugins and see what happens? If not I'd suggest this is the first thing you should try... I would also suggest, assuming you are using a mighty mouse, disabling any additional buttons you have enabled and leaving the only button working the primary one and again check if the problem persists. I can't think of anything else right now but I'd have a play about and see what happens.

Thanks for that Daniel

No suggestions are silly! Its easy to miss something obvious whilst look too deeply and I really appreciate the help smile.gif

So I tried disabling the plug-ins and sadly, no effect. Same with resetting.

And my mouse is an old Apple single button - when using the trackpad it behaves the same anyway..

I will re-install Safari once I figure out if I can save my bookmarks and report back.

Ah, no problem then :]

Humm this is a very strange problem that I've not come across before. Reinstalling Safari is probably your best bet in this case then.
Let me know how it goes.

Just to say, all is much better now! I re-installed Safari and whilst its much improved, I still just need to trash any random pref files lying around that zapping missed for some reason. I'm now convinced there was just too much mess around... just glad it wasn't anything nastier- it was driving me barmy!

Thankyou so much for all your help smile.gif
