Hi guys

I'm considering buying a Dell M4300 which has a 15.4" screen that runs at 1920x1200
I've heard that OS X works at a single DPI... anybody able to offer advice on what fonts will be like at this res/size?
Will it be readable, or can I change the DPI at all?

Thanks!

Install the developer tools and run Quartz Debug from [/Developer/Applications/Performance Tools/Quartz Debug.app] and go to the [Tools -> Show User Interface Resolution] menu item within that program. You should only need to raise the slider in the resultant window to 1.25, but open Textedit or something to check if that's good enough. That way you can keep your screen res at 1920x1200 but have all the user interface elements upscaled a little (and still be incredibly sharp).

Make sure you haven't ticked the checkbox to restore the default resolution on quitting Quartz Debug.

Alternatively you could just not use the screen to its full potential and lower the resolution used in [System Preferences -> Displays]. But Quartz Debug should be cooler (despite its use of "Resolution independence being a little buggy with some upscaled elements being blurred).
