At a guess I would say this won't support SSE2; V2 didn't and I believe a planned patch was dropped. We shall see. Nice one, though!

Release Information - 10.5.4 main system of v4i including modbin 9.4.0 kernel is compatible for darwin x86 non-efi mbr systems by default. Users can select stock packages for efi systems.
- Like the v2i, v4i also includes netkas pc-efi 8, supports GPT (Guid Partition Table) and MBR (Master Boot Record).

What's OSx86? OSx86 is a project dedicated to run the Mac OS X computer operating system on non-Apple PCs that use x86 architecture processors. OSx86 has been made possible at June 2005, when the Worldwide Developers Conference announced that Apple transferred their personal computers from PowerPC to Intel Processors..
Where can I download iATKOS v4i? Hmm. We don't know. We heard that the Green Demon is able to supply it.
What are the requirements? Use the
Hardware Compatibility List (HCL) of the osx86project and check whether your hardware is supported.

Hmm...wasn't really a big fan of iATKOS but if I didn't already set my system completely up, I would download this. I wish I could just backup my entire partition so I can restore it later (if needed).

That's the same question I asked myself. Here's my finding and results:
*Using Acronis True Image, I can backup the OSX86 partition on my HP Dv6500T laptop, and I can restore it later without no problem.
*On my C2D E8400 desktop, it's a different story. I am able to create an image backup, BUT when I want to restore the image, the OSX86 partition is grayed out. I am stomped on that one.
Maybe I'll give the old Powerquest Drive Image a try and see what results I might get.

Great, I was waiting for a 5.4 release. Upgrading my Kalyway install to 5.3 had been driving me mad. In the end I saved the User data and configuration and formatted my OS X partition. Time to install again, I believe.

Try using Carbon Copy Cloner. It operates in OSX environment so when time comes for a restore, it sees HFS partition right away. Search for CCC on the Green Demon.
As soon as it finishes downloading, I'll try a fresh install right away. Only a few kexts to install. It sure beats going from 10.5.2 to 10.5.3 and 10.5.4.

Did you have kexts installed for your graphics card for example? were they updated in the update? Just because you selected vanilla does not mean you can use all the updates from apple

I seem to have a problem. Boot on the DVD, ticked the usual stuff (although iatkos is not as straight forward as Kalyway). But I can't boot on the hard drive then.
I get the "boot:"
Whatever I do, nothing happens. I never had problems booting before, if someone could tell where I went wrong that would be great.
I had AppleACPI ticked, and the netkas SMBios....

Is there a way to integrate kexts into this? I have a working Kalyway installation, but I want to just put in all of the kexts that I know that work so that I can reinstall without going through the hassle of finding and installing all of them over again... and I'm seeding...

Those boot time keystrokes only work on real Macs.
To boot off the optical drive on your machine you either have to change the boot order in the BIOS, or if your motherboard supports it, select the boot device on startup.
(Should be message on screen as to what key to hit to get to either of those. Usually F2 or Del for BIOS, and F12 for boot menu)
